Forgot we still had him ha. Still, must be a bit difficult to integrate with Jagz Bainseh Wazza Ash Keano etc. When you can’t speak the lingo. You then go to Sevilla with boss weather, close to home, easy to integrate, and they’re not a walking embarrassment from top to bottom.
Haha. Great post, wholeheartedly agree. I guess it's difficult to leave the northern English 10 degree summer fish and chip culture to go to the paella-eating 30-degree sandy beaches of Sevilla.

Didn't see anything from him to suggest he could be a decent player for us. Needed so much time on the ball and his passing was dreadful.

It's not just about how much you can pay them though.

Most high calibre managers would look at us and think it'll be very hard to break in to the top 6 even with a decent amount of money.

In that respect it may be damaging to their reputation if they come here and don't break in to it.

It's really hard for us to attract the best players and the only way we can do that is to pay 'more' than the elite teams. We don't have the resources to do that, despite some fans seeming to think we're the new City, which we're not. When they were bought out they started paying more in wages than other elite teams to attract players.

It doesn't help that many of our fans seem to ''expect' any manager we have to get us in the top 6 within less than 2 years despite having been massively outspent by the elite teams for decades and being a less attractive option for players.

We need a talented manager and the board to back him but most of all we need the fans to be patient with whoever is in charge as we're fighting against the odds to break in to the top 6. Doesn't mean we can't do it but it's going to be a tough ask for any manager we have no matter how talented.

Relatively speaking a jump into the top 4/6 has to come from within.
Harry Kane has dragged Spurs into real contenders and with the addition of Ali they have been able to build around that.

We need to be looking at what we have in the academy and try and uncover a player who we can build a team around to compete.
Hopefully one who genuinely has the club at heart unlike all the 'Evertonians' who have left at the first opportunity.

To be honest I used to get angry seeing the likes of Rooney, Ball, Jeffers, Rodwell leaving us. But now I completely understand why, and I don't hold it against them. Sure I hold it against Barkley the way he went about leaving us, but I understand why he left. We're trash and have been trash for three decades nearly. One FA Cup win since 1987 confirms that. We all put on our blue-tinted glasses and want to believe we're a big club, and maybe we are if we're talking about pre-Premier League terms or comparing us to lower league teams, but nowadays we're mere also-rans, making up the numbers in the league.
I put myself in the above-mentioned players' shoes: Would I stay my whole career just because I am a Blue, or leave and go to a club that has genuine ambitions and ability to win things (United, Rangers, Arsenal, City)? I'd leave if the squad was rubbish and we had a gang of tits behind the scenes with no ambition.

Why wow? Sevilla are a brilliant club, miles better than us, in his home country after he wasn't given a chance in an average Premier League team. Are you surprised or something?

I'm happy for the guy. He didn't fit in here. Probably came for the money but it just didn't work out. Now he's got a chance to get his career back on track. Personally think he's a headless chicken and will prove himself to be a bang average player.
He was given a chance and he was awful. It’s 100% his own fault for not showing anything at all.

Whilst I can understand him not being happy with how his stint at Everton has gone, and indeed he can be justified in grumbling about the management of the club, I don't think speaking out like this is a particularly mature response from him.

He seemed to 'integrate' with the squad fine from the snippets we've seen in training, always a smile on his face. It sounds like he's just not up for fighting for a place.

It's a shame because I still think he'll turn out to be a very good player back in Spain but if he's willing to give up on playing in England after 6 months it says a lot about his mentality.

He didn't ever really want to come here anyway, Atletico was always his first choice and were just a decent back up option because we were offering good money.
