Sandhills station

Well, how was it?
Absolutely fine for me getting the Southport train. I was on a train 10 minutes after arriving. Home at the same sort of time I would have been from Goodison when I took the car. Loads of staff and well organised. It’ll be interesting to see if they can do the same again on Wednesday as it’s another sellout and will be a night time game. To be fair though I’m east stand which is probably the quickest one to get out of and I walked briskly to the station but I did not leave before the final whistle and was upper tier so had the stairs to deal with. It could turn out ok IF they keep putting the extra services on and use the 8 car trains.

Nice one, I was genuinely interested to see if the station was going to be sucked into the Mersey like Davek suggested if too many blues were on it.

First time I used Sandhills today, as I usually take the walk from Moorfields, as I like to bounce along the bars along the way to the game.

Gotta say it was sound. Though, I did arrive just after 12, so was pretty quiet.

After the game, I went to ten street socials, for a couple so I wasnt in all the mad rush to get home. Decent bar by the way.

But had a good experience on my way to the game šŸ‘

seems a horrendous journey getting home

i feel sorry for them but i think the generation of fans agrd 60+ who are used to driving in and out and only adding around an hour or so to their matchday outside of the game will be phased out, and anyone taking kids will likely have to make it more of a one off too

the current transport situation very much suits those who are active enough to walk good distances, and who are wanting to stick around/stay out on the ale afterwards

could make for a better atmosphere moving forwards but not fair either on those who just want to get in and out and have been going for decades

Modern stadia should be built with public transport hubs next to them or shouldn't be built. The Etihad has a tram stop next to it. They should have sorted it out before they opened the stadium.
