If he rolls back the clock four years he'll be a top signing, and I'm not saying he won't be, but I'm just not convinced right off the bat, that's all.
If he rolled back the clock 4 years he'd be lifting the CL trophy with inter after lifting it with Barca the previous year, winning a treble in 2 consecutive seasons.

I'm not complaining, he showed last season that he still has something to offer. His experience will be invaluable in Europe.

Hence "top signing"

But that's my concern - he's went from what you've just stated to being largely unconvincing too many times for Chelsea for my liking - it's like his overall form dropped off a cliff.

Class is permanent so we all saw occasions where it shone through last year, but for the money (yes, it matters, as it prevents other signings in the long run as the money is going to him, not staying at the club after all) my question is whether we'll see that class regularly enough to justify a two year contract. That's all I'm saying.

Lukaku looked rubbish for Chelsea, like. Just saying.

Think Eto'o never got enough minutes though. He showed his ability in glimpses, and as backup for us with plenty of Europa games I think he'll do well.

He's 33 and plays/looks even older, and I was laughing when Liverpool seemed in for him and that view isn't going away just because he's signing for us.

Very unconvinced - seems a desperate signing in the way of Ginola/Gascoigne in that he's a player who looked by and large terrible at Chelsea and is living on past glories. The odds on a sudden renaissance and appetite for the game are slim.

But let's see what happens...

I'm in the same boat as you on this, and as you say, lets wait and see.
