So I'm just sitting there, right, minding my own business, and then Sam Allardyce rolls over to my table. "Hi Sam," I say. "Hi," says Sam. We look at one another for a moment, each waiting for the other to think of something to further the conversation. The moment passes.

To be continued...

Sounds fesible. But look under the bonnet of that 8th, a points total that pales even to last year's,. horrendous football, short term fixes, no pattern of play or ethos, negative prenouncements in press conferences, civil war at the club.

Points total?

Sky do not pay prize money based on points, they pay it on league placing.

No true but I was making a different point, that it shows our decline from last year and how far we are off the top six now. Martinez got 47 the year he got sacked and we finished 11th so our 8th this year says more about the league than us. May as well be 13th bottom we've been that bad.Which makes me believe we could struggle next year too without serious change.

Sams current points per game is 1.48, over a 38 game season thats 56 points, which would have got us 7th this season, 8th last season, 8th the season before and yes, you guessed it, 8th the season before that.

Im not quite sure what point I was trying to make, but there it is.

When people purchase football clubs they generally hope to bathe in the reflected glory they hope to mastermind.
They also hope to receive the respect and thanks of the support.
They do not want to be on the receiving end of abuse.
Make no mistake if he continues with Allardyce the ill will he witnessed on Saturday will start coming his way and,as a certain Mr. P. Johnston discovered, that can make ownership of Everton a very uncomfortable experience indeed.

My point was about how it might look ok on the surface going from seventh to eighth but in reality we are way down on where we were last year, granted that's as much Koeman/Walsh's fault. Also the stat you mentioned is discounting the tough run of top six teams we played at the start. And the cups we were in and injuries we had and the easier fixtures we've had lately. You can't extrapolate what hes done since November across an entire season in my view as there's too many variables. But fair enough it's pedantic, yes he guided us to that place with a unbalanced squad(not his fault), spent on two good players. Thank him pat him on the back and send him on his way, job done. He can't do any more he said it himself, his entire career doesn't suggest he can develop his football. If he does stay, I personally can only evisage more struggle next season and he has no goodwill from fans, a few top six fixtures and a few away losses will equal big pressure on him.

Mate, he will just hide in Monaco or on his boat somewhere.

This is why I think keeping Sam isn't the stable option, that some people claim. There's alot of complacency in this idea, looking at his points stats but not appreciating that Sam has no plan, he relies on individual moments from forwards to score goals(literally one or two shots on target a game), those moments could easily stop and we will go on a bad run because there's no foundation to his football style, no pattern of play. It's all about percentages, direct play and getting behind the ball, then nicking something that isn't a recipe for success in the highest level of the game anymore. The turmoil will only spill over into next season should he remain.

Yes he could but it still doesn't make owning a football club much fun if you become uncomfortable attending a match.
I don't believe it will come to that anyway . I think Silva will be appointed and that was always the intention.
Allardyce thought he could get one over a guy who does business in Russia by forcing him to offer an extra 12 months on his contract. I bet Moshiri didn't like that.
That smile he was sporting on Saturday? That was the smile of an assassin contemplating the soon to be realised moment of cold revenge.
Bye Sam.
Count on it.

I really hope so mate, retaining Sam would be a mistake, but, BUT, its quite possible we could make an even bigger 1.................................

If you sit on the fence any longer you will never get the splinters out of your arsp - do you want him to stay and watch dire footballl - the fans have spoken - the board would be mental to sustain the agony!
