Marco Silva is a clueless manager !

He really isn't.

He hasn't really had a run at any club to show what he can do in the long term but his short term ability to get a team playing his way is pretty good.

It worries me we tried so hard to get him when he was flavour of the month though. Had we really done the work and decided he was worth throwing £12m at? Or was it a panic?

If we did the work then maybe he is worth a shot if we get knocked back by Paolo.

He’d had about 2 good months. His record in England stands at relegating a club and being sacked by Watford. If we appoint him I can’t be arsed with us anymore.

In his time in England Silva has pretty much the exact same record in the PL as our current idiot. Up to our interest slightly better than Lardiola, afterwards it became slightly worse.

Last season not only was Silva new to this league he took over a shocking side (a proper shocking side not like this EFC the bedwetters bemoan) who'd just lost their two best players. Allardyce on the other hand took over Palace and spent £30m. This season he worked wonders at Watford, another poor side, until we came along. Allardyce took over a far better squad and has spent £50m.

The reality is there is very little between them statistically since January 2017. Silva may turn out to not be that great but it's ridiculous bemoaning what he has achieved in such a short spell in England.

Sam lovers, it’s time to repent your sins.

@Kev The Rat you go first

Who would you have got instead?

That was on the day of the West Ham game so their mind was already made up before we beat West Ham 4-0. Unsworth was given the opportunity to prove himself but unfortunately failed to win over the players and they lacked respect for him which contributed to this run of results:

Chelsea 2 - 1 Everton
Leicester 2 - 0 Everton
Lyon 3 - 0 Everton
Everton 3 - 2 Watford
Crystal Palace 2 - 2 Everton
Everton 1 - 5 Atalanta
Southampton 4 - 1 Everton

5 defeats in 7.

So who should we have brought in? Silva wasn't realistic and Watford wouldn't let him go. It later transpired that Tuchel for example wasn't interested.

...Leaving Big Sam as a credible candidate. He doesn't appear to have done enough to shake off the criticisms of him, and he will hopefully be removed at the end of the season, but I don't see who else was out there that would have come in the circumstances.

I'll 'repent' if he relegates us like Koeman or Unsworth looked likely to do when Moshiri made the decision on both of them - after the 5-2 against Arsenal with us in 18th (Koeman), and us 17th under Unsworth on the afternoon of the West Ham game.

I thought he could come in, do a job, install some defensive stability, make us hard to beat, grind out some results and maybe move us up the table a little bit, hes done that, to a degree, well, when I say to a degree, I mean hes DONE NONE of that.

The fact is, he was sadly our only choice at that time, we spoke to Tuchel, he said NEIN, we spoke to Shaktar, they said NI, we spoke to Watford, they said "Go away before we sue you".

Im aware that there are more than 3 managers in the world, but we didnt have a massive choice IMO.

Goat, as one of the most sensible poster on GoT, I appreciate your view. The fat man and his bald friend bent us over a barrel and went to town on us with mass hysteria.

He should never have been appointed, he’s a train wreck of self importance. Always has been, we are seeing this in full view now.

I blame the board, if they were canning Cloggs then a replacement should have been agreed before the bullet was fired.
It was a sad day for Everton when we became a member of the “gash British manager carrousel”

Err mert, we are still right in the mix, no progress has been made.... oh I lie, we’re creating less chances per game and playing worse football.

I think you should repent, it’s the only way

I wasn't exactly doing handstands when we hired him.But i was willing to give him a chance, and results did improve initially. But i think the FA Cup defeat to Liverpool, was when the tide turned for me.Some people were happy enough with a brave and gallant defeat, but as far as i was concerned, it was a case of we have lost at Anfield yet again. Our final opportunity to win a trophy, has gone up in smoke. And as the weeks went on, the results and the football started to become increasingly dire. The football was dire even during that initial honeymoon period really.

The managers depressing small minded negative thinking interviews, started to really get on my nerves. It was all relegation this, and premiership safety that.Im not playing Ademola Lookman because he hasn't got enough experience. We can all relax when our premiership safety is secured etc.Wtf i said to myself. This is Everton football club not Huddersfield Town.Stop talking about a relegation threat, that doesn't exist you blabbering buffoon.

I will give Allardyce credit for inheriting an Everton side that was in bit of a shambles, and getting us back up the table. But that was the bare minimum that was expected of him.Yet he goes on like he performed the footballing equivalent of the loaves and the fishes. The challenge for Sam Allardyce was to show us that he had the mindset and ability, to be manager of Everton beyond the end of this season.

He has failed that test dismally. If mediocrity is what you want then Big Sam is your man.Him being the mediocre journeyman former player and mediocre journeyman of a manager that he is, he would know a lot about that. The man was appointed by a clueless owner in a panic.Hopefully Moshiri can help restore his damaged reputation, by giving this bluffer his marching orders at the end of the season.Or preferably sooner.

Spot on, and very similar to how I feel about him. I will give him credit for the initial run of games though because that effectively got us out of trouble no matter what some on here like to say. Some people just couldn't give credit where it's due with him.

But from the West Brom away game, he has proven the doubters to be correct. He isn't good enough for our club beyond this season and his attitude recently has annoyed me. He showed some promising signs early on, and has got us to beat the poorer sides at home but that's about it.

Whats your opinion on Arteta mate?
