Everton have confirmed Sam Allardyce will be at USM Finch Farm this afternoon to finalise terms on becoming the new manager of Everton Football Club.

Sammy Lee is expected to join as assistant manager while former Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare will also join the backroom team.

Everton have been without a manager for over a month since sacking Ronald Koeman on 23 October after the club slipped to 18th in the Premier League following a 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal. David Unsworth - the club's caretaker-manager oversaw a dismal run of five defeats from seven games but lifted Everton to 16th, collecting four points from his four league matches.

Allardyce, 63, understood to be the preferred choice of director of football Steve Walsh, has been out of football since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

David Unsworth, who has been in caretaker charge since Koeman was sacked 37 days ago, will take charge of his final game on Wednesday evening against West Ham United.

What has to be has to be. We will just have to get on with it and trust and hope he can restore some credibility to our club. Not my preferred choice but I will always be a blue no matter who is there.

I support the club first and foremost regardless of manager, chairman, shareholders, players etc.

To those who say they will not attend GP until Allrdyce has gone, I say to you do not turn your back on the club.

5/6 weeks to announce a manager who was out of work the entire time...

If more proof was needed that we were rejected by all other approached managers

Anyway he’s in now, so I’ll get behind him and hope he surprises people and gets us on track
