Sam Allardyce Explains Cenk Tosun Situation

Sam Allardyce has sought to explain why new £27m signing Cenk Tosun has not been included in his starting eleven for the games with Leicester City and Arsenal this week.

Allardyce: “He's had service to him that he's not held up and he's found it a bit of a struggle at this level because of the pace and the physicality of the game

"So his service hasn't been too bad but his hold up play hasn't been like it was at Besiktas so that's why he's not starting the games at the minute because he's finding it tough going like every player does, particularly when they come in January.

"I said we wanted goals, he scored goals in the Champions League and with Besiktas but may not hit the ground running for us. He hasn't done that yet, I'm sure he will do eventually.

"I'm more concerned about the other players than I am about Cenk. I'm more likely to feed him slowly and give him a bit more time over the next few weeks and hopefully by the end of the season he starts games."

"Hopefully by the end of the season he starts games"?

What was the point in bringing him in in Jan then?

We must have the worst scouting and recruitment set up in world football.

As much as i am unhappy with Allardyce at the moment, im not blaming him for this one. Our recruitment has been awful since well before he arrived. We needed a striker to hit the ground running like Walcott has done, for me this signing stinks of Walsh from start to finish.

Well done Sam, your now performing how we all expected and well done to the scouting team, its like buying a camel to race in the Grand National, complete shambles. There is so much dead wood behind the scenes, all the fans and supporters know, why are the board so blinkered to it? Hopefully the ridiculous Angry Bird sponsorship will be replaced by the Titanic Museum, as thats how it feels.

Hoofballs do not count as service Sam, next time try some crosses into the box, some 1-2s with deep runs around it as well. You know, like Arsenal did yesterday against your 5 players defensive line. You watched the game from the best spot, try to learn some modern football.

I never thought I'd hear an Everton manager tell a silly lie like this since we punted Martinez out of the club, but this really does take the mick. In his starts against Spurs and West Brom the service into him was laughably bad, truly awful. Since it looks like Walcott has hit the ground running why not give Tosun a proper go so they can build a relationship!?

The way this club has given the same frauds week after week to balls everything up whilst giving the cold shoulder to new players who haven't been tainted by three and a half years of mediocrity is, for me, the most frustrating thing about this season. You can't even blame is all on the Large One either because Usworth was just as culpable.

Actually, I am starting to think 40 points may not be the winning line this season.

I could see the 17th placed team finishing on 40 or 41 points.

So you think one of the bottom 3 on 24 will pick up nearly as many points as they have in 26 games in there remaining 12 games

They would need to win 5 from those remaining when they've won 6 all season
