I’m not unhappy with this, having a relatively like-for-like replacement for Dom (Albeit a significantly less mobile one) isn’t a bad thing, plus he’s worked with the manager before

Rondon is effectively replacing a player ten years his junior. In hindsight, Kean was a costly gamble – bringing a teenager to play for the first time in a foreign country, and it seems that he never settled. Rondon isn't the player who any of us would have wanted as a replacement. And yet Benitez, who knows him better than any of us, obviously does see something in him. Other positives: we needed a specialist lone striker, someone with strong hold up play and who can get on the end of crosses. Kean isn't that type of player, and Richarlison's hold-up play is the weakest part of his game.

I think we would all agree that we have a more balanced and better squad now. Not perfect but more grit and attacking threat. We shall see.

He is a huge upgrade on Moise Kean. He is selfless, a total warrior, great in the air, physical, strong as a Bull and brave. Not slow either.

Better than DCL in being the 1 in a 4-5-1.

He aint Messi but Ive seen him torture the best defences in Latín America. Supposed to be a top, top guy from some of the venezuelans I know here.

I thought McCarthy was tackling him? Horrible injury which gutted Rondon and harmed a great lad for us. Unlike the Son/Gomes incident I do think it was a freak and not malicious.

I'm sure the club has had a come to Jesus moment this summer where they were like we finally have to get our books under control, get FFP under control, etc. Signing Rondon on a free - we could do much worse. Townsend looks promising. Best case scenario we never even have to play Rondon in the league b/c Richy and DCL are healthy. But he's at least a physical force and has some snide about him.
