Given our finances, who would you go for TB?

I don't see us spending more than £5m in this window. The only British striker that I can think of that we could pay wages for, is Heskey. But at 29 he's getting on and I wouldn't like to see him on a long contract. Plus, when the Yak is back along with Saha, he could find himself not even on the bench.

Perhaps bring in a face from abroad on loan? But then fitting into the team mid-season, when you're not used to the English game, is always tricky.

I couldn't say to be honest Neb, I can't really think of anyone who's available. Especially as we'll only be looking at loan players. We have very limited options in all honesty.

Hopefully Moyes pulls an Arteta/Pienaar/Fernandes type loan and gets us out of trouble.

Me neither, which is why I plucked Heskey out of thin air. Maybe Bruce's suggestion of bringing in Lukas is the best we'll get.

Fortunately Cahill can fill in for the time being. But with his injury record ...

Jutkiewicz has bad fitness problems, something wrong with his hormones supposedly. He struggles to last 45 minutes for the reserves, that and I'm not sure he's up to this level yet. If he was Moyes would've used him by now.

I'd take Heskey, without a doubt but he'd cost money.:(

I'd rather Nuget that Heskey, as the lad would run through walls for us.

Running through walls and performing to the necessary level are two different things, though. But perhaps if we picked him up for peanuts, on low wages, he would be a decent signing given our current state.

Re Heskey: I'd be happy to see him in the team but I just feel that he's not a long-term prospect (at 29) and his wages would be quite high - probably up there with the highest earners. In saying that, he'd do the business for a couple of seasons. Perhaps on 3.5 year contract there could be some mileage in bringing him in. At least he wouldn't have to move home so would fit in pretty much straight away (same as Pennant).

I just would'nt want heskey at Everton. Their must be strikers out their in the world of football bette than him, Who we can bring in.

NO to Heskey!!

And Heskey wouldn't? He has done for every club he's been at. He's a 100% player, works his socks off.

He's far better than Nugent.

I would agree with that. He's a model professional and still eager to play at the highest level. He's not just a greedy, arrogant get like little Michael Owen. Another thing, if we had the choice of picking Heskey or Nugent for the Liverpool match, I know which man would get the nod from me. I believe £4m would secure his services but haven't a clue whether we could afford to pay his wages (£35k a week??).

I wouldnt want Heskey or Nugent to be honest with you lids.

I can see Moyes pulling out a masterstroke, ive just got a feeling hes got a big 1 lined up for us.

Watch this space.

Look, im all for your optimism MG. But we really have no money mate. There's going to be no big one coming in Jan. Maybe a good Loan signing. But if your thinkong of Wagnar Love.....

Remember the summer. Don't build yourself up to be disapointed again!!

We will get some foreign striker no ones ever heard of until they looked him up on that football manager thingy.

He will be about 27-28 and have a decent goalscoring record in whichever minor league he playes he.

Maybe a Chilean who is playing in the Slovakian league or soemthing.

What I find wonderful is the news story below that one.

Moyes - I won't be rushed.

It's ok, yeah you take your time. We have err one fit striker, You have one month to sort it out. Maybe you should pull your finger out a tad. Sorry, but unless you want the fans on your back, maybe now is not the time to be taking your time.

actually they have just changed it to:

Striking Additions Needed.

No [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] sherlock. Thanks god the monkeys are at the controls, were [Poor language removed] otherwise.
