Safe standing at Bramley-Moore

Only if the positioning is arranged by the height of the individual, eg small people go to the front and each subsequent row has slightly taller people behind until the really tall people at the back.

..

That's not necessarily true as the stand that they are putting the safe standing in will have a requirement for enough facilities to service the extra capacity. Thats the beauty of designing a stadium for safe standing rather than converting. We'll be able to facilitate a better ratio for that reason.

I don't disagree that it is better designing from scratch but unless you have a stadium that is hemmed in with ridiculously small concourses (e.g. most of Goodison), the other grounds will be upgraded in a similar form. If they can double the capacity of a stand for reasonable amount of investment and know they can fill it they will do that. Any space behind stands could have a single story extension to fit extra facilities, wider exits and alike. You have seen how quickly the disabled access has popped up at the back of the PE, it is not too dissimilar to kind of development required.

What do you do if you bring your kids
Put them in the kids pen ?
What do you do with your really tall mate and your really short one
We all have at least 1 of each

It's not just the size of the exits on the external, it's also the size of the vomitories within the bowl. I'm not saying it's impossible for a club to do it, just that it's not as straightforward as making the ratio higher. Even if they had stands that were previously all standing, Gwladys Street for example, they could never allow the numbers that used to get in with today's building and safety regulations

The whole point of standing, safe or otherwise is to turn back the clock / bring back atmosphere. Unless they put it where it should go - behind the goal, its a total waste of time.
Its just a carrot to dangle to shut up the moaners who want 60,000.
It'll never happen, the 60,000+ extension or safe standing.
Given our slow progress / time frame lets see how Spurs or some other english club go with it.
Todays spectator won't stand for 2+hrs, not withstanding (no pun intended) the fact they stand up for 80% of the game now.
Short term fad, might work in germany but theyre all funny buggers anyway.

People are annoyed at the fact that our ground will be smaller than those of the other top clubs so the board are trying to pacify us by saying "Don't worry about the capacity; we can get to 60,000 with safe standing".

It'll never happen.

Not sure why people think this won’t happen.

Celtic have had it for five years now.
I don't think there is any doubt that safe standing will happen.

The two new stadiums to be built/planned in the past few years (Spurs and ourselves) have both incorporated it into new designs. I'd like to think that we're not doing this on a whim and have heard from sources that it is close to becoming a reality.

Hopefully if the Stadium does go ahead this will be a good idea to help the atmosphere. But can't help but feel we are being lead up the garden path in regards to the Stadium.

At a 1:1 ratio. The question when it comes to increasing capacity is if you'll be permitted anything higher than that. And on that point, nobody knows.

Isn't the safe standing one rail seat per 1 standing.

How can the capacity be increased with that ratio for safe standing.

It can't. The club is entirely reliant on a change in the law that allows for higher ratios.

Maybe they know something everyone else doesn't, or maybe they're just hoping it'll change.

Safe standing as a whole is reliant on a law change, whatever the ratio may be.
