Just watched an interview with him talking about the proposed qualification for CL changes (FA Cup winner and top 3) and he paid us a big compliment!

He doesn't agree with the proposal, and says the Premier League is a better test of a clubs ability to perform in the CL. Then he goes and names the clubs who represent that challenge and names 'Highbury, Newcastle, Old Trafford, Everton and Liverpool' as the teams that represent that PL challenge!

Glad the self-absorbed SAF is recognizing our improvement.

I've always felt that Sir Alex has had a soft spot for the club and especially for the fans.

Everyone knows hes a mate of Moyes, even after the bust up in 2004/05 :P

I have to agree with him though.. Don't like the idea that the cupwinner will go into the CL. Sure it would make the cup even more interesting, but it will also mean that an extremely lucky club can go through to the final without having to face a single tough opponent and then perhaps face Chelsea or ManU in the final.. loose and still get into the CL because either of those two teams will finish in the top3.

A few years ago this proposal would have ment that Millwall would have represented England in the CL. It's ridiculous.

The only positive thing I can see in this proposal is that it doesn't make the "Top 4" clubs automatically into the CL.

The fact that only one team outside the top four has won the cup since we did in 1995 I think it doesn't offer much hope but even that is better than no hope at all as we have seen in the league. I would vote in favour of it, especially as G14 are against it!

well, doesnt winning the FA cup guarantee a uefa spot currently?

so where does that go?

and still it is dependant on who wint the thing, so it will in all likelihood be 'as you were'

Bollocks, Platini can stick these plans up his ass, He also wanted to trim our league down to 18 teams a while back If I remember correctly.
