I agree, that South American multi-country bid looks crazy to me - planes criss-crossing the Andes doesn't too bright an idea to me.
Although a solus bid from Egypt sounds equally odd - have they got sufficient stadia for a tournament that size ?

The stadium requirements are more than most countries can handle on their own. Ireland have no need for to 60,000+ seat stadiums for example.

It is for Gaelic football and Hurling. It just temporarily had the rugby while Lansdowne was being rebuilt into the Aviva.

Well there's only around 50 votes in Europe and over 200 nations in FIFA, so they could still get it if the rest of the nations support it

Which still means their stadiums don't meet capacity requirements because both semi final stadiums have to hold greater than 60k. And I'm not sure but it's possible that they also have to be in different cities which creates a problem as both Croke and the Aviva are in Dublin.

Problem being that if there is an Asian bid that eats up Asian countries and a South American bid that gets those countries and an African bid that picks up a bunch of African countries suddenly the votes start to dry up.

That said I was mostly kidding about the Brexit thing. However it is going to be seriously hard for anyone to stand out if all of the rumored bids actually happen. I'd love for it to be the South American one as Buenos Aires, Santiago and Montevideo would be boss host cities but there are only 10 CONMEBOL votes so they may have a tough time finding people to go along with them.
