So since I got Fox soccer plus, I have had a chance to catch some Rugby games and I must say I enjoy them...

Some of the leagues I like are super 14 and Magners..

I'm still baffled by the rules, and powerhouses/minnows and how international players fit in..

Was curious, Everton have a rugby team? if so, which league, are they any good?

Anyone know if there are some Americans playing in the prem?

p.s. I could have researched this but where is the fun in that, when I have friends from around the globe...

super 14 is a southern hemisphere comp. The crusaders being the kings of that.

this is all rugby union though, try watching superleague for some really entertaining rugby, if you get the chance to watch a state of origin game (queensland v new south wales) from australia then don't pass up the chance, or aus v n.z. they are always feisty affairs but origin takes it to the max every time, you'll probably never watch the 15 a side gamne again then.

Everton don't have a rugby team and it is viewed as a sport played by wools, although there are union teams within l'pool.

Everton is in Liverpool and AFAIK Liverpool don't have a proper Rugby team, the closest teams being Widness, Warrington and St. Helens.

Rhinos supporter BTW, although going by our "performance" this season I feel a little bit of embarrassment whenever I mention it...

They used to ... Huyton, and before that Liverpool City (a long time ago) in fact my oldest programme was 'lost' from my parents attic and was Saints v L'pool City from about 1906 or something.........still a very touchy subject the disposal of that said programme.

Oh right. Were Huyton Union or League?

I've always wondered, because Pool and Manc are arguably the two biggest cities in the RL heartland, why neither have a big team representing the place? Unless you consider Salford part of Manc of course.

Quite agree about State of Origin, it's a fantastic set of matches. Rugby at its best. Super 14 is as good as Union gets as they tend to play a much more running game down there. The English league is pretty turgid in Union. League though is well worth a watch, especially as Wigan are kicking some booty this season :D

Up the Saints!!
(not that I follow rugby but I moved to St Helens so its forced on us, Rugby is a girls game)

Saints yeah!

super 14 went through a stage of endless penalties, high scoring matches without a try scored, partly because there were some very good kickers around such as Mehrtons, Spencer and some good Aussies and S. Africans, but they have gone back to tying to get over the line again nowadays.

Ummm I thought this thread was about my place of exile:unsure:

Where the great game was invented...Good ole William Webb Ellis

Magners leauge is the Badgers Nadgers - My lovely team Leinster are TOP of the leauge - with at least 1 game in hand, in the semi-finals of the Heiniken Cup AND Won that AND the Mageners Leauge last year! Oh god, I love that team and Mr O'Driscoll and Mr Sexton! haha.

ONe thing i dont like though is when Everton and Leinster play on the same day... like tomorrow. I WONT be impressed if both teams lose! Humphs!
