Shambles from Saints from start to finish. Beaten in all areas of the pitch and discipline was poor. I've been saying to a few mates recently we've gone backwards rapidly this season and that performance only reinforces my view. Woolfe has a big job on his hands to turn this around, absolutely clueless with ball in hand and our left hand side is getting targeted game after game. Leeds will hammer us Friday if the game goes ahead.

It has to be said though Castleford's 'ground' is a complete tip with facilities that were outdated by the 60s. Only Wakefield is a worse place to go in Super League.
Away fans/teams hate It, that's why we love it. Much like Goodison i suppose, everyone knows it's well past it's sell by date but when it's rocking nothing beats it lol was not expecting such a bumpy transition for Saints but they looked awful. Very early days though and we all know it's about peaking in October, or whenever this season gets finished!

Used to work with Saints, Wolves, and Wires fans until I retired...but the latter 2 were kopites.....only met one EFC/saints fan...
;) ;)
Wolves and Wire are the same team. I'm a Wire fan and a lifelong Evertonian so don't judge everyone on the evidence of 2 people. Most of the Wire fans I know who follow any football team are Man U fans, I only know one that's a koppite.

A good win for Castleford today, although Saints have probably got a cast iron excuse for their performance like they did against Warrington and Huddersfield :coffee:

Having the SKY commentators praying for a Saints win may not be all it's cracked up to be lollol

Terrible performance from St. Helens lacking composure and discipline, simply no excuses for that .

On a more serious and worrying point just heard McManus saying given the current situation he believes the sport itself is in real danger of going under .

Rugby League really needs to make sweeping reforms to the structure of the game when things eventually get back to normal. For the game itself to do anything better then just survive this it needs major reform. You only have to look back at last season to see less then 5000 people showing up for an eliminator match, the game was on the bones of its arse before this pandemic broke out. There's a depressingly big chance that some club's wont make it to the other side of this. :(

real chance it could go under as a professional sport or at least see some huge reforms if not . When the NRL are in a panic that’ll tell you where super league are .

I watched the old 'clash of the codes' match highlights yesterday, and it was noticeable that all of the tries in the league match were from running rugby, I think 3 of the Bath tries in the union match were penalty tries given after scrums near the Wigan line. Kinda summed up the difference between the two sports. Also brought back nice memories of a backline of Radlinski; Offiah, Robinson; Inga, Connolly; Paul, Edwards. That's just pure sex.

On BBC sounds Replay they’re doing some commentaries of great sporting events with some amazing boxing stuff that I’ll stick in that thread . on there is the 1985 challenge cup , Wigan vs Hull , one of it not the greatest challenge cups . Edwards as fullback as an 18yr old I think . Believe it was the Chief Sports writer of the Guardian or the Times at the time said “the greatest display of running rugby of either code I have ever seen”

Amazing match, and the overseas players in those days were at their peak rather than journeymen seeing out their careers as is so often the case since the salary cap came in. Brett Kenny was at Wigan when he was 23. Peter Sterling was the same age (I think). It's like having Billy Slater and Jonathan Thurston in Super League in their peak. Meninga was at Saints when he was 24. Jesus. If SL had a prime Greg Inglis I'd cream my pants I think.

Just incredible when you look back and that was a truly incredible match , Kenny and sterling amazing .

No idea how Wire have done it financially, and it's another huge name after they'd seemingly retired, but still, it's Greg Inglis, so holy moly. Quite possibly the greatest league player I've ever seen.

Well he's either our marquee player or itll be the same way every high profile Australian signing ever... by employing their wife in the club shop or something for £100k a year.
