Suppose we need a new RL thread instead of using last seasons.

Most talk will centre around our four local clubs but England, NRL, State of Orgin or any other RL chat welcome.

Anyone else on here going the World Club Challenge today? I was hoping for snow, frost and it to be as cold as possible making conditions as alien as possible for the Aussie players coming straight from their summer.

Saints will start underdogs, which is a rarity in our own ground, but it's a free hit for us and a big prize should we get a result. I think we can match the Roosters in the forwards but not too sure in the backs.

Really looking forward to this game. Just hope it isn't massive let down like in the last WCC we played in.

Feel saints missed their chances.

Really good to see a good crowd on the TV (well it looked that way), and a competitive game.

Saints lost 40-0 last time. Valiant effort, will be interesting to see how the league goes this year as I feel Saints will still be too strong, even without a Holbrook.

Wigan and Warrington looking a smidge jittery already. Toronto consistent for 40 mins then crumble. Would love them to stay up as it can only be good for the sport.

I went the game and thought they put on a decent effort , individual errors from saints and little bits of brilliance from the roosters just proved to much . Like you I was hoping the weather but typically it only seemed to really deteriorate late on , plenty of decent stuff from saints just lacking a little bit of ‘stardust’ I suppose although I don’t think coote would have changed the result. overall a decent performance against what’s a top side .

The absolute least I've looked forward to an nrl season ever. We're playing out of the dump that is kogarah for the next 2 seasons, we've got 2 highly paid players that I'd be surprised if they play a game this season and a rat that wants to jump ship to the roosters.

What's the reaction to the number of British players in the NRL at the moment? At the end of last season there were 12 I think, and while it may be a little bit lower now, that's still more than at any time I can remember. Is it a sign of a stronger British talent pool at the moment or a weaker Aussie one?

Honestly don't think there's much reaction to it at all, there's a consensus your forwards go well out here but the backs don't - hardaker, hall and some other bloke who played for newcastle who's name i can't think of. EDIT, joe wardle was the bloke

Talent pool is pretty good at the moment as far as i know, some unbelievable talent bursting onto the scene like david fifita and payne haas.

Very disappointed we lost on Saturday and but can't argue with the effort and commitment. The Saints players left everything out on the pitch and more. We just came up against a side with just a little bit more on the day.

Had we just took those chances we bombed when on top in the first 15/20 minutes of the second half it really could've been different. Walmsley the best forward on the pitch for me in what was the most intense game of rugby league I've ever been at.

The Roosters were a credit to their club and the NRL. Their players were still at the ground after midnight chatting with and having photos took with fans and through the week did coaching sessions with some of the junior RL sides in St Helens. Very classy, they've been excellent guests here.

Saints have won about 20 odd trophies since Everton last won one so you may be right there! But both clubs run straight through my family mate.
Used to work with Saints, Wolves, and Wires fans until I retired...but the latter 2 were kopites.....only met one EFC/saints fan...
;) ;)

On my way to Castleford with Saints. We need a result here after such a poor one in our last game. Coote being back should give us a lift, he's been much missed.

Probably need to make the most of this as I suspect it'll be the last live game I'll be attending in rugby or football for quite sometime.

I'm not entirely convinced all of the clubs will make it out the other side. Finances are already incredibly tight. If they get to a point where a large chunk of the season is gone, ie no gate revenue, plus the risk of season ticket refunds. Very hard. I'm not sure the RFL will be in a position to help either. If Sky were to do anything due to the reduction in live footage. Wowza.

Well if this is to be the last sport I will see for the summer I'll be quite content, up the Fords:cheers:

Shambles from Saints from start to finish. Beaten in all areas of the pitch and discipline was poor. I've been saying to a few mates recently we've gone backwards rapidly this season and that performance only reinforces my view. Woolfe has a big job on his hands to turn this around, absolutely clueless with ball in hand and our left hand side is getting targeted game after game. Leeds will hammer us Friday if the game goes ahead.

It has to be said though Castleford's 'ground' is a complete tip with facilities that were outdated by the 60s. Only Wakefield is a worse place to go in Super League.
