Does this mean the rs will have to pay to use the Liver Birds on their badge :hayee:
In short - Sadly, No.
The Intellectual rights of those Liverbirds still, just, reside with the descendents of the sculptor...but not for much longer, as the expire 75yrs after his death.

My mole in the College of Arms, informs me that the bird on the City Crest is an Ancient Heraldic Device and thus nobody has copyright to it
The position of the various head/neck, wings, etc. denote different aspects.
The City Liverbird is discribed thus;

Arms : Argent a Cormorant in the beak a Branch of Seaweed called Laver all proper.
Crest : On a Wreath of the Colours a Cormorant the wings elevated in the beak a Branch of Laver proper.
Supporters : On the dexter Neptune with his Sea-Green Mantle flowing the waist wreathed with Laver on his head an Eastern Crown Gold in the right hand his Trident Sable the left supporting a Banner of the Arms of Liverpool on the sinister a Triton wreathed as the dexter and blowing his Shell the right hand supporting a Banner thereon a Ship under sail in perspective all proper the Banner Staves Or.
Motto : 'DEUS NOBIS HAEC OTIA FECIT' - God hath granted us this ease.

My Mole further informs me that there is no reason we could not start to use a Liverbird if we wished and advises that a tweak of the wing position from the current 'Ascendant' position to a 'Resurgent' might apply...rather apt and fitting.

Fwiw, the rs only have rights to the cartoon version on the shirt.

Would you want the Liverbird on the shirt?

I understand they may move, but I don't want the tower taken off the crest.

I would only want the liver bird on a shirt if we were doing some sort of “commemorative collection” I don’t think it has been used by us since the 1930’s and even then it wasn’t actually on the kits. I think when people think of Everton, it’s the tower and Laurel wreaths they think of. The Liver bird is associated with them, not us. As we saw a few years ago, messing with the badge can have horrific consequences.

We're perfectly entitled to use it...and it was on the very first medal that was awarded when we won the league at our old ground, before they were even thought of. But it has far too many negative vibes now.

tbh, I'd be more than happy if they were painted blue...think of the rs fume

There will be protection against painting the birds blue but they should be ok to turn them blue with lights on them.

Just do it Everton....

From what I can see the pale green colour is only corrosion/verdigris on the bronze castings, it may have even been this colour from day one, some castings were painted with acetic acid/vinegar to naturally produce a consistant all over colour.
So maybe not even painted at all.

Moshiri owns the whole building though, Everton staff work on 1 floor

Go 'ed Mosh paint them
