Everton assistant manager Steve Round says the club's defeat in May's FA Cup final has only made his players more determined win some silverware

Round told BBC Radio Merseyside: "There is a real desire and commitment among the lads.

"It was a disappointment at the end of what was a very good season. That will motivate them and spur them on even more to be successful this season."

The Blues' pre-season began on Friday with a 2-1 defeat by Bury.
Brazilian striker Jo, on a season-long loan from Manchester City, was a second-half substitute and Round hopes everyone at the club will see what he can offer this season.

"It was a big positive to get Jo on board," he said. "He's a talented player and we saw that in the latter part of last season.

"If we can get him firing and he gets the goals, I think we've got a very good player."

American midfielder Anton Peterlin also got 45 minutes under his belt although the former England assistant coach warns the 22-year-old will need time to develop at Goodison Park.

"He's a tidy player and skilful player [with] a lot of technical ability and a bit of speed about him.

"He's one that is going to have to settle in and learn the Everton way and learn the pace and speed of the Premier League. He'll do that in the reserves and hopefully he'll come through."

So nothing we didn't know really

Although nice to see that that have reacted postively to the cup final

He really seems to like Jo, almost to the point that i worry wobbily head may be sniffing around the Yak, seems he and Moyes rate Peterlin highly and expect from him.

Well he aint gonna come out and say that there not bothered! Another one of those stupid posts on the OS.

He may have

For example "They still seem a little bit down but i'm sure they'll pick up"

It's easy

We lost to Bury??

When did they get so good?

We lost to Bury with a load of kids playing, plus it was the first pre-season game and the lads had just hard 3 hard days training in Scotland. You never take the results of these games seriously anyway as they are just used to get players match fit in time for the start of the real season.

Yeah mate, because Bury are slap bang in the middle of their season..... Oh wait!!!

While I agree with the bin lids thing, we really shouldnt lose to teams like Bury.

But its only a friendly, who honestly cares.
