I've read numerous articles on this incident (my wife works at Newton Hospital)
EVERY SINGLE REPORT mentions that he is an "imigrant" or that he lives in Newton "but is originally from Afghanistan" etc
It's just blatant press racism and is designed to deliberately stir up racial hatred.
If all these reports said he was a "scouser" or that he lives in Newton "but is originally from Liverpool" this forum would quite rightly be incenced.

It's a reaction unfortunately. Because of the riots in summer 2024. The social media nazis whipped up stories about anyone with none white skin or foreign sounding names being involved with certain crimes and the shy gammons gobbled it up. So an alteration was made re the cops and in certain cases now certain details regards ethnicity are being revealed so as to quell the rumour mill and prevent escalating tension.
This is just the beginning. News will eventually lead with... "an Iraqi man is suspected of blah blah blah" when if the same crime is commit by someone named Joe Smith* for instance then the report goes "A Birmingham man has been arrested on suspicion of blah blah". This racial-baiting aspect has been prompted and allowed by the musks and farages and robinsons of this world. They aren't bothered about crime or it's victims, just a wedge issue re race they can point at and declare themselves the saviour regarding.
Eventually some bright spark puts two and two together and goes and torches the nearest ethnic food shop because it's somehow connected to the apparent perpetrator of a crime and then people die. Then the narrative gets shifted to two tier policing and alleged softer treatment in the judicial system where only white men get the time they're due for punishment.
I can foresee a brasseye or black mirror episode where the news reporter explains a crime and it's criminal and then presents the audience with a phone number to vote on the spot to deport them. South Park s16e04. Where accusation is enough and moral panic gives way to disappearing's.
