Ross Barkley

He was on a night out - in a bar not known or renowned for loads of trouble by all accounts - the night after a game.

Fgs.

It used to be common for the entire team to be out in the pub an hour after the final whistle.

Ridiculous.

Naive of him to get himself into that situation? Absolutely.

Should it make him think twice about going out in town on a busy night like that? Yeh, probably.

Was he in the wrong to go out? Absolutely not.

We don't know why the scrap broke out, or what was said or what the reasons were. But Barkley wasn't exactly stumbling about and it's six days before the next game.

He turned up for training/recovery this morning so clearly wasn't getting hammered beyond recognition.

Defend his actions all you like all I see are the same excuses Best or Gascoigne and others had wheeled out for them, they got away with it in part while they played, however, it soon unraveled. Nowdays fitness is such a key part to playing attributes, a player as gifted as Barkley cannot just rely on footballing ability in the modern game, he needs to be physically at his peak while in competitive matches all of the time, drink or no drink, the irregular sleep patterns are have enough.
It's makes sense why he got dropped by Koemen and lost England exposure, he has distractions that don't fit with modern football.

mad some of youse saying he shouldn't be going out and that, if I was a young rich boss footy player for a local team I'd be out when I could tryna finger birds.

aslong hes not getting himself into states starting fights with random lads theres not much that could be done abar some chancer going over and hitting him
