Ross Barkley

Yep. And the fellers playing the tape seem to make out he got tagged with one rather than being ko'd

Also, no camera photos of a sparked out Ross.

But that ain't as newsworthy
every man and his dog has a camera phone, had Barkley been sparked out there would be photo's all over twitter. Chances are it rocked him, he got back up, went for the guy who was then pulled away by his mate.... and ross's friends and security will have got him out of there sharpish. The coward who threw the punch will be found and charged, hopefully Ross shakes it off and the club and manager will show him all the support they can.

Don't even know if that big guy is involved with either of them by the looks of it.

He may well be, but in all honesty just seems to react quickest and has a few glances over before, which makes me think that he was wary something might kick off.

Either way, that bloke deserves some credit for doing so. Probably stopped much worse happening.

You can tell by the way that lad is holding his arms out from his side that he is gearing up to take a sly dig at Ross regardless of what is being said.

Its the sort of dig that could smash his jaw and put him out all season that - a sad state of affairs but the reality is that it could be seen as a bit naïve of top players to put themselves in those situations while the season is in full flow.

Basically this.

This doesn't smell right - there is only a brief bit of footage of an incident. Seems that a heavy editorial hand has already been at work. Is that original footage or is it footage of a screen showing the original? It's giving me the creeps.

Not really surprised as there's loads of bells wanting the notoriety of dropping a prem footballer.

I remember hearing Robbie Fowler getting sparked loads of times in town back in the day
And tbf when ever I saw him out during his Liverpool days, he was sound. Plus he's like 5'6- cowardice when you had massive guys trying to flop him. Proper sly attack on Barkley in that vid to. Hope he gets what's coming to him. Hope it's not used as an excuse for Barkley having to leave the city ect..

Very few of the very top footballers nowadays go for these type of nights out and for good reason. It's not just about the possibility of getting lumped but other than the odd glass of wine players just do not drink that much anymore.

Ross, as someone says needs to get out of Liverpool. I suspect they meant live away from Liverpool yet still play for Everton but I wonder if therin lies the whole problem in that he is too close to the club.

Clearly he is an Evertonian through and through we know that, he knows that and the board know that so I guess he thinks that puts him in a stronger position in terms of contract negotiations, the board are petrified of losing another home grown talent yet possibly are not in a position due to what is in effect is the wage cap to get anywhere near what he feels he is worth.
The next contract, if 5 years in length will see him through to near enough his 29th birthday so he will be looking to getting north of what Man Utd are now paying for squad players and in reality the reported offer made to RL of around £130k a week is almost certainly on offer elsewhere and I really doubt that Everton are offering anywhere near that sum.
This incident on top of the managers comments may well tip the balance and I would suggest that everybody braces themselves for increased speculation of him and RL off to London in the summer.

Also seeing the likes of Jess Lingard get £100k a week is not helpful.
His contract should have been sorted last season.
He will be looking for parity with Lukaku's potential deal and if not here he will get that elsewhere.
If we want to compete with those above we have to offer the wages the top players demand.

This is the exact type of thing that will push him towards Spurs.

If the lad who has given him a dig is who I think it is then he's not the sort of customer to be trifled with and Ross can count himself lucky to have only been given a crack.
