Such a weird one this, it's one thing if he was being saved for sunday but plenty others came on who were supposedly lacking fitness while we didn't see even a sight of Barkley. What's that now including the euro's 4/5 games of travelling and 0 minutes on the pitch.
Did anyone else notice as well that when they were talking about options from the bench they named just about every bang average young player in the squad but completely ignored the fact Barkley was even there.
Usually i wouldn't care in fact i wish he had the paul scholes treatment and completely forgotten about to the point where he just says i've had enough and forgets about england, we know he can be affected mentally and watching that happen today must have been infuriating when you're the most creative english player this season and can't even get a game over livermore and then don't come off the bench when ward-prowse, redmond, lingard and rashford do.

I don't care about England. I hope he doesn't play at the weekend either and is protected for us.

He may become a Le Tissier who was a great player but wasn't really fancied for England, England will never change , Chelsea,city,Utd,Spurs and Liverpool players prefered the last two most favoured.

Stopped watching England play when Hodgson played Liverpool 11 month after month. Lets just be glad our players wont have picked up any injuries. Sod the fa, Sod that no mark neville brother v.3 and sod the whole corrupt shebang of a joke of our supposed "national" team.

Why does England suck so bad internationally? Must be the countries overrated to much self pride. It's evident by how other countries view you guys. To sum it up I've heard the term asshole [Poor language removed] etc to describe the English people.

We have been very average for years but now we are pinning our hopes on lallana and Henderson so there's not much chance of any success anytime soon. There are some decent players in the squad as there has always been but there has always been these guranteed starters, which has held us back over the years. The players don't play on merit they play because of the club they play for.
Your right... he would be playing for a manager that requires 100% work rate 100% of the time ... constant pressing and tackling ... so poch would lapse expect him to re shape his game
You used the word "suck" so I assume you are either 11 or American... then you used asshole.,, so now I'm 99% sure your American. If this is true then surely you must understand "overrated self pride" ... the problem with the England team is the press. They hound out any player or more importantly any manager that makes a mistake. And the FA are dumb enough to sack managers on the opinions of some idiot journalist that knows nothing of football... so basically the manger doesn't try knew things becuase if it doesn't work out you come under pressure and eventually get sacked... the press push for the manager to pick players from the top 6 (used to be the "big 4") they also push for any players that have a good season to leave their clubs and join the top 6 or else it will harm their international prospects. They also big up players after a few games and then the player believes the hype and becomes a dick head and ruins his progression ... and this is all done by the time they're 23 years old. The players continue to be picked internationally until they leave the "top 6" and the"new Gazza" or the "new Rooney " takes their place and it all starts again...
Mate common... Martinez ruined Barkley ... he was unfit , lazy and looked lost... that got the fans on his back and things got worse. What is worst about this is , when it was happening we and ross were being told how amazing he is...

I don't think I heard his name mentioned once, either during the build up to the game or the match itself. It's as if he wasnt even in the squad.
Tbf he played a lot of football under Southgate in the youth set up so I was looking at it as more of a case of him being rested for Sunday because Southgate already knows what he's about. I'm glad he didn't play in a meaningless friendly in which he could've
