Ross Barkley

The stick Ross gets at times borders on the ridiculous. Can he do better....he knows he can and we know he can, for me he needs more support, from the management, his team mates and the fans. Expecting him to pull magic out of every situation he receives the ball is just unrealistic. At Southampton he was isolated every time he got the ball in their half, in home games the lad looked like he had the world on his shoulders, had a great game against Arsenal when the midfield around him gave him space. Monday, he got wound up, a good start mixed with some poor decisions and yes he should have seen red.

We all know he has the responsibility to see that his talent delivers on the big stage consistently. Equally the Everton management team have a responsibility to support him in a more structured way. The frequent commentary about his weaknesses' from our management aren't helpful, not when there are plenty of others who should be looking at their own contribution. He's in poor form currently but he ain't the only one, but the amount of attention he gets is out of proportion IMO. It'll be a poor reflection on our club if he realises his talent in anything other than an Everton shirt. That said, he'll know what we are seeing currently isn't the player we all hoped he'd be. Point made. All the best.

Excellent post!

No, it is partly that and saying things like "he's just been horrific" is ridiculous, there are multiple reasons for a player going down the shitter so quickly.. Saying it's because he's just been horrific is ridiculous, stuff happens for a reason. He didn't just magically become rubbish.

Also you're hardly a beacon of impartiality when it comes to him.

I comment on his performances from a position of complete impartiality actually mate. I don't pretend he's been playing well when he hasn't. Same with every other senior player in the squad.

He's being sold to fund transfers from what I've heard. Not sure how true it is just passing on what I've heard.

I heard he is forcing a move to Liverpool so he can finally win a derby match... don't know how true it is... just passing on what I have made up

Eggs-actly! :)

As much as I hate to say it, i think we're missing the likes of Osman and Pienaar. We seem to just have tacklers in the team now and no link players. A reason I'd like to see Tom Davis thrown in there.

When Barks gets the ball, he has no option as Rom doesn't move and the rest of the midfield are behind him. He plays the ball backwards, gets the crowd on his back. Tries to find Lukaku, gets the crowd on his back. Tries to dribble, 3 players on him, loses the ball, crowd on his back.

Bart Simpson summed this one up well, "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Take his tackle in the derby, that horrible t*#t from the RS did exactly the same, if not worse and nothing, still a hero. Barks does it, everyone has an opinion.

so the reasons that Barkley is crap are the following reasons?

First Moyes for dropping him

Then it was bobby for giving him complete freedom

Then it was woy for shouting at him and not picking him

Then fat sam excluding him from the squad

Then Southgate for doing the same

Then koeman for criticising him and dropping him

Now it's lukaku for not running enough

And it's also the rest of his team mates for making him pass backwards ?

Im still waiting for someone to point out a midfielder at 23 years old who is supposed to be bossing games and plays for a club similar to ours.

Maybe its just me but the kid hasn't got a middle ground. Hes either got to be the new Gerrard or hes worthless to some people. If he was 25 etc then I'd agree, but because hes not world class now people have zero time.

What's Paul Pogba up to at United apart from being the French Tom Huddleston.

Does it mean we're not offering him a new deal?

To be fair, I hope he does go. Another club will get a good 5 years out of him to make him into a player. And I still think a top 6 club would easily pay £30mill just to have a English player like him.

Mate not saying he has to boss every game... but he's crap and has been for a long time... he is worse than when he first broke into the team IMO.. he loses possession more... shoots less... dribbles less... runs less....and has zero aggression ( don't bring up his tackle the other night as that is literally the only time in 4 years he's shown that)

And you prove my point.

Barkley is not crap and never will be. Why single him out?

Forcing a move to Liverpool? Really?!...

Didn't you get what you wanted from Santa? :) Was it red instead of blue?

barkley isn't good enough to build a team around... and isn't able to fit into any team systems ... he's the problem... not all his managers and team mates... let's not forget that the fans are also to blame... so basically it's everyone's fault but barkleys that he's playing crap?

Sad for me but it's time for Ross and Everton to move on,maybe it's too much pressure maybe he's not as good as we think I'm open too either answer, but I think we need to draw a line under it now.

Watch this video though, he's clearly good enough. We don't get players through the academy like this everyday. It's clearly a confidence issue and it's a terrible shame that we can't support the lad or find a way to help him.

If we sell him this window, it'll be a new dawning of the type of club we're going to become...

absolutely. We need to accommodate him and take him out of the firing line. To swap him for utter tripe like Sissoko would tarnish our reputation for years to come and we would massively regret it

Agree with the first part of this and we desperately need more creativity in the team to take some pressure off him.But he is capable of so much more hence why Koeman is dishing out the criticism in the hope of firing him up to improve.

That hit against City is still ridiculous. Come back soon Ross.
