Ross Barkley

Not for me mate. Was too far inside when we were attacking or defending. Ovideo was winning the ball on his own when he got it from what I saw. Lost count how many times he was nowhere near the left side when we broke with it.
That's because bollasie was on the left. He pulled more centrally when we broke and was back helping Oviedo when they came forward ...

Ross was as average as the rest but he is somehow given more leeway, he was no better or worse than Cleverley overall, Cleverley made some important tackles first half. I don't like Cleverley but to slag him off for not being something he's not is wrong.

What is he then? Runs headless chicken like into and past a tackle, isn't a winger, isn't a CM or DM. What position does he play and please tell me how Ross is given more leeway, when the majority of this thread is about crap he 'supposedly' is?

I am definitely not in the 'Barkley is the new Messi' club, but talking in the pub after the match then coming on here ,l reckon people are wilfully ignoring the gradual improvements in his game . He worked hard last night particularly in the first half. He was closing down , harrying, and winning balls far better than I have seen him previously. Like the team generally he is currently work in progress, but green shoots and all that .

Since the season began I don't think he's been obviously out of form. This situation regarding Barkely all blew up after his manager chose to highlight his "failings" after the Sunderland game. I blame him for much of the fan discontent around Barkley. It was a numb nuts bit of management.
Agreed, he should have just called him a phenomenal player in an incredible moment and that would have instantly improved his form, we've seen it before.

The exciting player we saw a couple of seasons ago is no more it seems. A few flashes of brilliance and people expected him to do it all game, every game.

You believed in the hype train captained by Mr. Martinez and you've ruined him with the weight of expectation.

Nice one.

I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the lad. He seems to never learn from his mistakes and is like Bamby on ice at times. I really want him to do well, we all do I'm sure but at some point we have to take the blue tinted specs off and see he isn't doing enough to warrant automatic selection.

I like Barkley but I'm running out of excuses for him,he played ok last night but there was one chance second half when he wriggled free of a defender and then played the ball across the box or tried to it was cut out,but the pass he should have p!ayed was a cut back to jags now if he made a conscious choice to play it across ok but if he didn't see the pass to jags I'm a bit worried.
