Ross Barkley

Any of those slating Barkley notice we were also rubbish when he went off? Probably worse in fact.
Because we don't have creativity. It actually proves the point if you think about it. Ross actually has fantastic ability, he just doesn't seem to be able to make use of it where it matters. In this position instinct more that thought is the way of the master.

That was Gueye.

And as for chances, they base it off opportunities set up in the box. He put Coleman through twice and Lukaku for a shot that was blocked.

None of them defence splitting passes or clear cut chances, but in terms of being someone making things tick he did okay with the limited football that was on show.

The game was a heading competition for the defence.
Ok, but either way lukaku should have buried that.

Barkley skinned a player running into the box from the right, and instead of cutting it back or shooting he hit the ball straight into the defender who was one yard away from him and resulted in a corner which to me - none of which were threatening.

Like I said, he worked hard today tackling running etc hence praise for thag, but he's still proving to be pretty crap at what he's actually meant to be good at.

Out of how many aerial duels, one?

96% pass accuracy out of how many passes?

8 crosses that actually managed to get 3 feet of the floor?

4 chances because somebody shot from outside the box?

1 shot a zillion miles wide?

No offence but you can turn anything into anything if you try hard enough.

I actually want Ross to succeed, but I'm being honest and saying he simply isn't good enough right now. I was stating this season would be his and he would show us what he is made of, so far he hasn't fulfilled.

Just pointing out the other side of the opinion whether you think its a valid one is up to you. But its clear hes not a good player in your eyes.

But every week there seems to be an over exaggerated view from some people. If he plays "okay" it usually equals hes awful and needs benching. When we dont win its usually his fault.

I tend to agree with this - we're much too reliant on a player who is young and out of form for creativity. We have a lot of wide players at the moment, but only one whose game is to create through the middle. And clearly he is struggling at the moment.

But that was the game. When he had the ball, he worked it well. When he didn't, he put a shift in.

Even Bolasie our flair player spent more time tackling and going up for headers than he did running or creating.

The ultimate overrated and overdefended player at the club he ran about today and put a couple of corners in I do that on Wednesday night ....how long till koeman runs out of patience or willingness to persevere with him talented kid but every week it's becoming obvious he doesn't have the mental state to be a top draw player
