Needs a Goal.
This is the most obvious cure to his problems. But we need a longer term solution. He can't let small things affect his whole performance levels over prolonged spells.

If that's the case he need's to shootNeeds a Goal.
I don't have a clue about that, I can't see what we can do here.
I still reckon he's being played incorrectly and needs to drop back a bit more, between the '10' role and just in front of Barry/Gueye but that's just on the pitch. I'm a massive Barkley fan and reckon he's still sound, just needs something to click elsewhere.
To answer that patronising comment, I'd say that he is better in that position than any of the three players you have mentioned as possible replacements.
I think there's also a change in the way we break forward that undermines Barkley's game: the reflex out ball to attack tends to be via Bolasie. RB sees less of the ball, therefore, and carrying it is a massive part of his game. I notice from OPTA stats that his 'take ons' look down this season so far (from a player that is right up there in the PL table for them), whilst Bolasie's are pretty high each game.I disagree like. And even if you are serious in blaming Ronald. Then there's serious issues about Ross' character if he turns into a gutless coward at the slightest criticism from his manager. He should be busting a gut to prove Allardyce wrong at the minute. He's actually vindicating the hoofball merchant.

I'd like to see a 433 type formation with him the agressor in a midfield 3. I reckon that's his best position. But I worry about him mentally. He's doing stuff that is just not good enough. So many challenges being bottled. He looks huge favourite for loose balls and yet gets nowhere near them all too often. And his shooting has gone to pot. He snatches all the time now. I think we need to give him a short break out of the side and get him support away from the firing line.
It's cool to hate him.
He doesn't stand a chance with us as fans. I think he needs a move away from the vile supporters who follow us these days.
The youth of today is disappointing.
Aye, he does. Infuriating when he cuts back time and time again instead of just striking it like he did 2 years ago.
I'd give him a breather too, just a week or two and then bring him back into the side in a different role, similar to what you've said there. There's games where he is a bully and does win those 50/50's but they are too inconsistent. You can see in the last 2/3 games he has been absolutely terrified on the ball, trying to play simple before expanding his play. He shows flashes but he has to do it consistently and I'm begging for it to just click for him.
Our 'support', holding us back again.
