Begovic is close to joining

' I still expect hart to join on loan' another great quote from your twit

Like that ever mattered in football?! Gazza and Rooney are widely considered to be 2 of England's most gifted players in the last 30 years. Neither come across as particularly smart.

There's a big difference between football IQ and academic IQ.... Unfortunately poor Ross may not be doing the best on either measure.

That's far easier to learn than having vision to make the killer pass. How many times have we seen him do that in over 3 years. The best pass I saw him make was for England. Ozil and KDB do that every week.

If he isn't played further back and can't sort out the defensive side of his game I hate to agree with people he will be following the career of the likes of Rodwell.

I don't think it's surprising that we went after Sigurðsson in the summer.

I agree. If you don't have vision when you're 22 you won't have vision when you're 28. That's why i'm worried about him.
But also as a CM you need to be clever and you need to now when and how to pass. Players like mordic and kroos are CM and they also have vision and know what to do in every position on the field. Barkley hasnt got that. He doesnt seem to be clever enough.

Been a defender of him for years but I'm rapidly losing faith to be frank. Games like that he should be dominating and yet again he stinks the gaff out making constant errors of judgement, he's gotten no better than he did during his break-out season. Lad is 22 now, soon to be 23. The old excuses shouldn't wash anymore. Players like Gerrard, Lampard, Ballack, Gascoigne, all greats whom he's compared too, they had long ironed out the same problems by then yet Ross doesn't look as if he learns at all. If you're this supposed world class midfielder in the making then you have to prove it FFS, and do it more than 3 or 4 times a season.

Watching him reminds me of watching a year 7 playing with the older lads in school. They under-hit passes, lose it cheaply and need a few seconds longer to make their minds up. And every now and then when they manage to do something good everyone goes "WAY! WELL-IN LAD!" in a light-hearted way. Nothing is done out of instinct with him, nothing seems easy. He either overthinks everything or does something stupid and rash.

Like I've said above, he's nearly 23 now. He can't be classed as a kid anymore, especially since he's been playing in the first team for nearly 4 years and is under his third manager. Needs dropping and if by the end of the season Koeman hasn't managed to bring him on substantially then it should be just accepted that he's simply not as a good as a lot of people think and want him to be.

I actually disagree. I think he does use the ball well when he's around the center circle plus the game is less random then which makes it easier to coach.

He will never be as good as Modric but if he learned to defend he could be as good as Kroos. Maybe given Koeman's remark about playing DM that's where he sees him.
