Ross Barkley

Article in the Telegraph today is right- Barkley has not improved enough in the last 3-4 years and he is no longer ' just a young player that has time to develop' . Right now I would say he is at the level of a decent back up central attacking midfielder but we need to bring in a starting player of higher quality in the next window.

Absolute ridiculas comments, and so far off the mark.

He is delivering more than any other "top" midfielder we have had in the Prem. He is 22 and is playing well, 1 bad half he has had ffs!!

Why does nobody else get picked up on decision making ?? Kev fopr example ??

Madness this criticism.

If yous don't want him send him to us

I have used these stats for over a year, if you average those numbers out, he is performing better than Lampard and Gerrard.

Add in ALL competitions, and he would be even furnther out infront of all 3 of them.

Now i would say thats very impressive.

But we need to improve as a team, especially now that we have the money - being better than previous 'top' everton midfielders doesn't cut it I would say.

I'm still a fan of Barkley and I wish him well but I think everton can do better now.

I meant top English midfielders.

And he has more asisst and goals than most of our other players.

He is key, and a brilliant footballer.

If his own fans wont even stand by him, then he should give up now.

1 bad game ffs!!!

The media's gleeful pouncing on Barkley is exactly the reason England win nothing on an international level. If this lad played for any of the monied 6 there wouldn't be a word against him. Dele Alli had one of the worst Euros of anyone in the England team yet nothing was said. The media complain when Jack Wilshere or Henderson fresh off their injury beds aren't selected in the first team. For Ross Barkley though they couldn't wait for him to hit a slump in form and they were on him like vultures. Absolutely shameful. The lad is class and has more talent than any English midfielder except perhaps Wilshere. No way in my mind Koeman or Everton will even consider casting him aside.

It's not one bad half though is it?
Assuming you go the game you must see the amount of times in a game he gives the ball away or makes the wrong attempted pass or just goes down a blind alley.

It's almost every game.

I wish he would be a world beater but he's not.

The amount of times I get home from the match and later find out he got man of the match is amazing and stupefying.

5 mins on motd and they pick out his good bits and rave about him???....now that's ridiculous!

I think the match-goers in general have a different view on him to those who watch on tv.

Everybody wants him to do well but the frustration is mounting.

Not saying Gerri should start matches as he has no stamina but the substitution the other day showed how things should be done and how mobile we should be.

You can have all the talent in the world but in football if you have a brain of a chicken you will not reach your potential . Sadly Barkley has the attributes of a world class player but the football brain of a league 1 player .

He gives the ball away because he's looking to do something brave and move us forward.

He then gets criticised for playing 'too safe' when he doesn't do that.

The lad can't win - and mostly that's down to our fans.

Out of the five games so far this season, he's got 2 goals and 1 assists. He's performed very well vs Spurs, and did well vs WBA, Yeovil. Pretty average against Stoke.

He had a poor 45 minutes vs Sunderland and actually if you go back and watch the full 20 min highlights on the OS he's still involved in every good attacking move we strung together in that half.

wrong

Look at some of the woeful decisions Del made the other day, or Kev, trying the hard passes?

People need to stop jumping on the lad's back. He's done well this season playing under a manager who is totally different to what he is used to (he has ONLY ever been a first team regular under RM).

Give him time - he's 22 and whatever people say that isn't 'old'

I go every game mate.

And do you have that same strict view on ALL players ?? Number of times they lose the ball, make a mistake or do something wrong ??
If you do, then you must not rate any of our players!!

So did you not see Gerry lose the ball about 6 times ??? Fail to go past his player and fail with croses ???!!
