Ross Barkley

last year he was considerably more hit than miss, something people tend to forget given his 'miss' period came at the end of the season.

Not excusable to down tools due to manager.

I use to live in Liverpool, so I know what local people would give to play for royal blue.

If you're meant to love the club you'd show more effort than him, I'm sorry he looks like he's going to cry when people get on his back.

Needs to man up and become heart beat of this team and show more emotion, rather than pretending he's got confidence problems and throwing toys out the pram when manager is not helping him.

If he was from Exeter not Liverpool half of you lads would be wanting Barkley gone.

If he doesn't perform he should be dropped 100%..

Last two years he's been hit and miss.

Big year for Rosco hope he ups the ante or we may have to sell.

Well I'm a fan of his and he the bright spark in our team tbf

Barkley had his best season last year with the 12 goals and will only improve. Gerrard and lampard consistent didn't start till they were 25

I have total faith in him.

I myself would never boo the lad but the are others in crowd who want him gone.

Name me a single Everton player who hasn't been, at best, "hit or miss" over the same period

Effort wise or ability wise? No excuse in my eyes to down tools, if you love the club.

I don't know, it was your statement mate.

Personally I thought that the opening half of the season was his best ever form in a blue shirt. He also scored more goals and got more assists than he had ever previously done.

His form absolutely suffered in the 2nd half of last season but then, Gareth Barry possibly excepted, I can't think of a single player who wouldn't fall in the same bracket.

Can't say I agree that he was trying any less than anyone else. His fitness could certainly have been better, but then I think you could put some of that down to the previous management - as Mirallas's recent interview suggests.

So, yes, he has been hit and miss over the last two years, but I can't think of a single player who hasn't.

There is absolutely nothing suggesting he downed tools or threw any toys out of the pram. This is an odd post.

Doesn't show enough emotion to me... Wayne Rooney shows even more for united than Ross does for EFC...

Last season when we was in a bad run of games he never put any effort in, walked around the pitch with his hands on hips not wanting to track back and help the team.

Others are GULITY of this, but Ross is meant to be a blue?

Last season he has to improve or we should sell, just my opinion.

I've always backed Barkley and will continue to. I also believe you won't see him at his best unti he's 24/25. RK will either turn him into a very good number 10, something Martinez couldn't. Or a number 8.

After a poor 14/15season I thought Barkley was very good last year up until the last 3months like other people have mentioned.

His stats were up there with the best. I saw something in febuary naming the best 23 players under 23 across Europe. Pogba was 1st sterling about 4th and Kane/lukaku both in the top ten. Barkley was 20th. At the time his stats were better than pogba across the board. IE passing chances created take one goals and assists. I haven't looked but I'm sure pogba over took him by the end of the season. Consider one plays for the best side in s average league and the other for a mid table side in a tough league.
He also smashed sterling in stats, and he was playing with world class players every week.

On another point was listening to talk sport after the euro squad was picked. And the usual rubbish coming out about Barkley having a poor season and lucky to get picked. Abs how he looked big and unfit.

A journalist on the show, who's name escapes me. Did he know Ross? Or someone close to him? Because he said Ross had been Carrying an injury for the last few months. And he so obsessed with fitness and is one of the hardest workers day in day out at the club. And maybe because he could get out on the pitch everyday, he had compensated by spending more time in the gym.

I know Ross has flaws in his game and needs to improve. But I think he has the right manager to take his game to the next level.

He is already pne of the best players in the prem, and could get even better. But if he doesnt, then he is still a quality player.
I think Ross has many similar qualities to Dembele however with a few upgrades largely added goals &'assists Dembele doesn't really get many.

The point of the comparison is demebele when he was young played in an attacking role & was often linked with the biggest clubs in the world including Real Madrid .

He never quite lived up to his early promise from an attacking perspective he has though mattured into an very good central midfielder with the ability to control a game. Early on he was very suspect defensively & positionally but i don't see these faults anymore.

My point is Ross actually has far more ability but worst case is he will mature & drop back deeper to become a similar player to Dembele but with the addition of goals & assists or he will get 40 goals & Assists per season & be worth £125million.
It's one or other it's simply a waiting game world superstar or top premier league midfielder. The worst case scenario is still a top player

Really strange post. I'm not the biggest fan of Barkley but I don't think he downed tools.

You want him to show more emotion but also slate him for looking like he's going to cry. Righto.

22-years-old. Last season he got 14 goals and 12 assists for club and country even though he was tosh since March (as the entire side were).

Dear me, weird, weird post from you.

Oh, I see you're slating Rom as well. Hmm, nothing to see here...
