Could have sworn it was said both Barkley and Lukaku would sign new contracts before the window closed?
The speed in which the club pulled the Lukaku quotes that Koeman made suggests Lukaku wont be signing a new contract anytime soon.

wait, what Koeman quotes? The speed in which the club pulled the Lukaku quotes that Koeman made suggests Lukaku wont be signing a new contract anytime soon.
wait, what Koeman quotes?
huh...http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/29340...nfirmed-he-will-stay-at-everton-ronald-koeman
The club tweeted some of those quotes on twitter then deleted them.
For me Barkley has developed into a solid midfielder ,he will score goals ,and supply assists I can see him being our captain one day. What he will not be is a player you build a team around which is what we all hoped for. It is this disappointment that fuels his detractors to overstate his perceived flaws. By contrast his supporters overplay his talents which causes friction between the two camps. A solid premiership midfielder is'nt a bad place to be . He's just not the worldie we hoped he would be.
....new contract rumours are an interesting development. If true it could be an indication that RK thinks he's the real deal, I think that would be a significant endorsement.
Was always gonna happen IMO Eggs. He only has two years left. Get him signed up until 2021.
....good point, didn't realise he was in that countdown period of his contract.
Not sure it would necessarily be an endorsement of RK Eggs. It's something that we simply have to do as he only has 2 years left on his current contract.....new contract rumours are an interesting development. If true it could be an indication that RK thinks he's the real deal, I think that would be a significant endorsement.
I think it was a 4yr deal in the summer of 2014yep, signed a four-and-a-half-year extension in November 2013 I believe - so he'd be out of contract in June 2018.
I have to agree that Barkley is a solid midfield player but not the outstanding world class player i thought he would become 3 years ago. I appreciate his loyalty to the club, but if i had to choose keeping him or Lukaku, I would choose Lukaku- the reality is Barkley would be much easier to replace and improve upon than Lukaku will be.
