Barkley will have a great career with us, I predict double figures in goals and assists this season alone.

Definitely on his way already only needs 8 in the goals. I hope he signs a 5 year contract, Koeman is the right man to bring him on and he will only get better. Last season his return was great considering he was average for large parts of the season and he'll only improve.

I've oft wondered is Barkley undroppable?. I mean would Everton fans accept Barkley on the bench for long periods if RK fancied, say, playing two strikers?. Probably as long as results were good I suppose. But I wonder if RK didnt fancy him could he freeze him out?. I doubt it.

If the manager got results nobody would care.

Football fans are fickle.

For me Barkley has developed into a solid midfielder ,he will score goals ,and supply assists I can see him being our captain one day. What he will not be is a player you build a team around which is what we all hoped for. It is this disappointment that fuels his detractors to overstate his perceived flaws. By contrast his supporters overplay his talents which causes friction between the two camps. A solid premiership midfielder is'nt a bad place to be . He's just not the worldie we hoped he would be.

Dunno, loads on here seem to have a pathological hatred for him so not entirely sure about fan backlash.

Yeah but if we were sitting 7th/8th and he still wasn't getting games cause RK didn't fancy him I think RK would start coming under pressure. He's played too much football for me last three years, not getting some competition for him this window, along with no real back up striker, is a major bug-bear of mine.

Well its possible the boy Valencia has been loaned to play the number 10 at times, so lets see what happens.

Everton are ready to tie Ross Barkley down to a new long-term deal as they begin the second phase of Ronald Koeman’s redevelopment.

The midfielder, who suffered the huge disappointment of being omitted from Sam Allardyce’s first England squad, has two years remaining on his current contract.

But Everton, who have been in constant dialogue with Barkley’s advisors, see him as having a key role to play in their future and are looking to reward the progress he has made and his standing within the squad.

Blah, blah, Muslim Ray guns.
