Ross Barkley

Agreed, the coaches who took four or five unfit players, played centre forwards on the wing, had the premier league top scorer taking corners and made six changes to a team that had to win. Deserved the sack the lot of them.

Exactly.

Ross didn't play because there's players who would play better than him...out of position.

Lallana is better than Barkley out wide. So he plays. Ali was more "trusted" in a central midfield 3 so he played. The next is a unfit Jack Wilshire. However, both of these did a worse job than Drinkwater or dare say Mark Noble could've ever done.

Barkley is a number 10 learning to be a number 9. Isnt effective anywhere else.

Woy didn't play with a number 10.

Nothing to do with having no football brain.

You do hear Barkley say he doesn't practice free kicks, penalties, corners or sitting over the last few years.

And couple that with Martinez not practicing defence and no emphasis on free kicks or set pieces...

REALLY makes you wonder what the hell they did in training. Hopefully Koeman kicks all their egos down a flight of stairs and remind them they are professional footballers, "practice" is not optional.

Do you know what I think we have an exceptional footballer in Ross Barkley the lad has everything you need in the game today he just needs a top coach go bring it all together and hopefully koeman will, and then it would be great to see him have a great year next year and take the prem by storm and watch all the doubters wither anyway.

I see that once again we have this utter baloney about "poor decision making" being aimed at the only English player other than Rashford who has the ability and temerity to attempt to run forward and dribble with the ball. Whichever pundit it was hung that label around the lads neck has probably destroyed what should have been a fantastic International career. Some on here lap it up, dear oh dear...

Bottom line in all this is we can argue all day about whether Ross or Stones should have played, personally rather than Wilshire I felt that Ross coming on for the last 20 minutes of a game he would be more likely to unlock a defence, that aside I am so glad those two lads didn't get any game time knowing what has happened.
The players who took part in that last game in particular are going to get pelters next season from crowds up and down the country and they are going to have to do something special in an England shirt for any affection for them to return a la Beckham, therefore whilst our lads confidence may be down from not getting a game I would rather be in their shoes than any of the guys who played,it will be a long time before they can hold their heads up, like him or loathe him I wouldn't like to be Sterling in the coming season and his confidence must be absolutely shattered why oh why did he get a game at all ,Woy the boy has a lot to answer to.

Warnock and Martinez, Martinez thought he was ace, We know Warnock hated him, nothing to see here. Warnock ffs haha who gives a flying...

I like Ross, but I agree with what Collymore has said. The way Ross plays, he picks the ball up and runs at defenders and the defenders don't know what Ross is going to do. Because Ross doesn't know what he is going to do.

However defenders have worked out that if they crowd him out, he will just run down a blind ally and kick the ball against them. Which is what he did for most of last season.

For me Barkley has not developed in the last 2 seasons and it is worrying to see. Because defences have learned his weakness he needs to develop a "football brain". If that's even possible

......I've been critical of Barkley but for a large part of last season he was very good. You won't see many footballers on University Challenge, certainly not Barkley but I think he can pick a pass and read a game. It's his intellectual attitude that needs managing, his frame of mind he goes on the pitch with and his mentality during the game.

I don't know the boy and it's a bit cruel to say he's not very bright but I get the impression he needs a lot of attention and mentoring to get the best out of him.
