I love him and want him to remain at Everton forever but i am rapidly coming to the conclusion that he's not going to be quite as good as I had originally thought he might be when watching him during his first season.

I find his off ball positioning to be one of his weakest areas, i often see these nice big gaps behind the striker he could move into but instead he avoids them for whatever reason. He doesn't get the ball in enough dangerous positions.

Technically he has the ability to be a superstar, mentally/intelligence wise I'm not so sure.

I just think he doesn't understand where he should be and doing.

He looks amazing when we break with pace because there is no tactical system to obey it's get the ball in that net and quickly. When we are in possession with the opposition sat back he's not the only who seems lost at times.

I think the team that started the friendly against Germany, with Rooney and the Arsenal player who'se name escapes me who has been injured forever, squeezed in if they are fit. Subject to other injuries of course. Barkley should still squeeze into the squad, but the most playing time he'll get will be 15/20 mins at the death.

Jack Wilshere? If it is him I don't think he'll make the squad since he's hardly played. I'm not even sure how good he is to be honest as Aaron Ramsay seems to carry that midfield a lot.

On Barkley, I think he'll shine at the Euros. Hopefully he'll get more time and space at the Euros since its international football, and if he has vardy, Kane, Rooney, Sturridge to aim for he can slot them through. Plus he'll have a far better organised CM and back four setup behind him, so he can stay up top.
Time for our diamond to sparkle! (And then stay at Everton!)

Trouble is he'll be knackered for August when the league restarts. Same with Stones and McCarthy, and maybe Rom

I remember seeing Wilshere at the Emirates in Cesc's last season and thought that he would step up and develop into a much better player. Looked then to have it all. I know he's been injured a lot but scary how much he's gone backwards.

Ha! Yeah I suppose I did...I just remember Jags after the world cup. He came back half the player he was when he left

And then there was Brazil....in 2014....When brown shoes wanted everyone to go to the WC... Maybe that's why we're so cack at the minute...Maybe he doesn't want them to go to the euros so they won't be banjoed at the start of next season...

Realistically the only one of the 3 young lads we can keep this summer under Martinez, and even then how long for.

I'm Barkleys biggest fan and I was set upon on here a few weeks ago by some thugs when I said he lacked his drive and direct play we got accustomed to seeing and was turning into abit of a crab.

He has looked very pedestrian and lethargic for both Everton and England this last month or so, he looks petrified to lose the ball or try anything.
We have plenty of average players who can do the simple ball and not pass forward, difference is atleast they put a shift in and have some positional and defensive guile about them.

Without his drive, directness and shooting, he doesnt really offer an awful lot atall, so he needs to get back to doing what he does best and stop trying to please everyone.

I think I meant Brazil 2014 actually. Forgot what year it is!
I thought SA 2010 but it was Brazil when Jags got blamed for England's exit wasn't it? He didn't recover for ages. Stones getting all the flak at the moment is similar. And Barkley will need to shine cos the press/armchairs all love Delle Alli and Sterling

At the moment none of our players (Bar Lukaku) deserve a place in their national squads. Certainly none of the English players.

I'm not arsed whether they go or not, tbh. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Press have a lot to answer for, the lad Alli is a good prospect but he's being made out to be the next Messi. When England don't win the euros to the surprise of absolutely no-one else in Europe the press will hang the lad out to dry. All this weight of a nation bull put onto the shoulders of lads who are barely out of school is more likely to do harm than good imho.
