Dave, please.
Full quote, please...
"It was a total team performance today. Ross Barkley had more impact in the last part of our attacking, not only in scoring but he was dangerous throughout. That's what the team needs. He can be very good, but it is all about knowing what you need to do. Sometimes I have to shout too much, he needs to run more."
He's playing exactly how he always plays. If we win, he gets a pat on the head from some who criticise him (or at least they dont pipe up), when we lose or have a poor draw he's the whipping boy again.Either way Dave, he was great today and looks like the kick up the arse - from Ron Koeman - has done him well.

Was it?The work rate was higher. He won tackles and blocks in defence and in midfield than usual, which is what Koeman wants (I don't personally).
But other than that, when the ball is on the floor (it hasn't been in previous games), he did what he does.
Problem is and has been...if hes having a mediocre game or not involved, who steps up? No one at the moment.
Was it?
I'd need some persuading over that claim. Maybe his stats from today will prove it vis-a-vis his other games.
But how true is it? There's perception (and one fuelled by a win) and there's statistical evidence. For his pressing/tackling? Clearly was. He very much was box to box today (eg winning the ball at right back, setting Kev off...who ballooned a cross).
His fitness was never there to that. Now it seems so as he got into the box more from midfield
I'm not a huge fan of it for his position (we never have a go at Ozil, Countinho, Silva etc for not winning the ball back) but its what Ron wants.
