Ross Barkley

For me ross needs to be moved from the number 10 and back in to a 3 man centre mid field where he will have space in front of him to run with the ball. He doesnt have the inteligence for the number 10 and runs out of space before he can think. Id drop him back and then gerry and bolasie right up along side rom ( but out wide) to pin the oppos full backs back and open up the space for ross to run in to.

Spot on. Being touted as a world beater has done nothing for his development. Back to basics, learn his position, keep it simple, get some goals.

The point I'm making is... using ross " created stats" to defend his crap performances , is clutching at straws... he's taking corners that it... and not very good ones... how can anyone believe he created 7 chances against palace? A game where the only chance we created all game was by bolasie for gueye to miss?
Have to agree with this tbh...

He needs to start enjoying his football more. He looks like he is on the verge of tears all the time.

I have thought this about Ross myself, sometimes he looks like the last place he wants to be is playing football at Goodison Park.

This two week break for England won't help, more time to sit around wondering why he isnt in the squad and being unable to do anything about it.

I can think of several different occasions mate right off the top of my head. Lukaku lays off to Coleman, Coleman blazes over. Barkley slides Coleman in, that's a shot on goal. Bolasie crosses back post to Lukaku. E.t.c. e.t.c.
I also think his delivery from corners has been pretty good, got the ball onto a head a number of times throughout the game. Have you even watched our corners over the last few years? A world away with regards to putting the ball in good areas for people to attack.
Seems you have an agenda against Ross.

I have seen out corners ... they are pretty bad tbh... and Barkley is responsible for some of them.... but just because our corners have been shocking and against palace they weren't as bad... doesn't make ross a creating player ....

Also , all of those chances you just described... none were created by him... so how anyone can believe he created 7 chances is behind me

Good to hear you've moved on mate.

Has to play deeper as part of a 3, he's clearly not the Silva/Eriksen/Coutinho/Mata type #10 who knows what he's going to do with the ball virtually before he's received it. That's what we're crying out for in the #10 position too. But for now, I'd revert to a 4-3-3 where he can run the game from midfield, and when he improves the defensive side of his game then he can take over Barry's role. Love the guy but if he doesn't step up then he shouldn't be in the team long term, still got faith in him but not in the #10 role.

Our corners have actually been better this season in general, might have something to do with us you know, practicing them.

They're finally reaching the penalty area and not clattering into the first man at knee level, so that's a huge improvement in itself.

We can be great at putting the ball in the box but that is pointless if there is no aggression in there trying to get your head on it. We don't look threatening when we come up for the corner, look like we are waiting for the ball to come to us instead of attacking it.

We often put balls into the area but there is no one with the aggression of getting it in the back of the net
