That's debatable.It's called debate.

Like football has been littered with 22 y o world beaters
No fumes from me mate. Footballs all about opinions and you're perfectly entitled to yours.Didn't say it was. But the way he is revered by some suggest he is. He really isn't THAT good.
[Braces himself and awaits the fume]
The lads who over egg his performance are doing him as much a disservice as those who overly criticise him. I said he did OK on Saturday and peoples heads fell off because I wasn't effusive enough for an average performance. He's did very little in the game. Played simple stuff and looked alright when he did but twice he shot when a pass to Rom was on. His decision making was still poor. It was a 6/10 performance because I rate him and expect much more but I'm not going to say he was MOTM when he was miles away.

Agree 100%. Performances will breed confidence not blowing smoke up the lads arse.He was defo not MOTM, but he thrives off confidence and I for one do not mind singing his name for most of the match if there's a chance it will improve his game.
Wait.
Are people bitching because Barkley played but didnt score a worldly or get an assist?
Have a look at yourself; the kid is good if not great. He sometimes has a bad at work but the majority of the time, his average effort is better than the best from the rest.
Fine with that everyday including Sunday.
I cant argue that point of view.I think Barkley's problem is that he can be great and it skews opinion of him. he will do something really good and then people wonder why he cant do it all the time. Its a bit mad really but that's our fans for you.
He does frustrate me though. My problem with him is he often slows play down around the box. If he ever realizes just how talented he is and believes in that ability he will be a cracking player. I assume that is what Koeman is trying to do with him now.

The issue I had with your quote, and maybe it was just the way it came across, was that you appeared to be saying that if Ross was a world beater then we would have seen it by now. The only players I can recall being worldies at 22 were Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo (Brazilian version) and Messi. Arguably the four best players ever.
For what it's worth, I think Ross is a very good player, occasionally very very good. I'm not sure he'll ever improve significantly but if he can add consistency I'll be happy.
Whilst I was happy with the players we brought in this summer, I was still desperately disappointed that we didn't sign a quality back up for Rom, and a playmaker that could both challenge Ross, and support him in the creative side of our play. He carries the weight of expectation on his shoulders which is not good for somebody who is only 22.Ahh, someone who believes others have an opinion! Excellent. Don't get me wrong, I haven't branded him with Niasse yet. I do think he has talent but don't believe he will ever show the consistency of a world beater. I just don't want our progress to be hindered waiting for him to shine every game on a regular basis. Should a better player come along then we need to be assigning him his squad number.
