Ross Barkley

Do I think our manager should answer questions that hes asked?
You answer that type of question by saying quickly that a decision was made to replace Barkley at HT and that it could have been in truth any of the forward players. Job done. You dont seize the chance to attack his shortcomings in public.

Koeman just says it how it is and he also said it's not a problem and that barkley will be okay , not exactly hanging barkley to dry

Just seen the comments by Koeman on Barkley.

Bang out of order.

His thoughts on the subject should remain in-house. Hanging him out to dry in the media is a snides trick.

I dont remember him telling Lukaku via the media where he was going wrong prior to Sunderland. Double standards.

Frankly it is not bad as some of the post I have read in here.. he has already scored two goals this season and had one bad game. Let him be

Steve - did you see the first 2/3rds of last season? Do you think Ross was any good?

Honestly, I was 'critical' of him for most of last season, even early in the season. The debate about Ross and his hoped for success had already started and he still has the faults in his game that he had then. He has never been a 'tackler' and in the game these days every outfield player needs to take responsibility for tackling at some time...even Del boy does his best to at least hold up the opposition. Ross just stands there and lets them stroll past him. Why? If Koeman had joined Everton two years ago this may have been ironed out. But it hasn't, yet. The passing straight back to the player who passed to him is, lots of the time, down to not knowing what else to do with the ball, and 'passing the buck. The reason the ball has been passed to him is so that he can be creative. It very rarely happens. Ross is OK running at speed into the opponents box, and has a shot on him, but so do many others...maybe he should play as an out and out striker? Just thought.

He should have eaten the carrots.
He's criticised him for his comments about being left out of the England squad, then a couple of days back Koeman states he'll have a word with him about form, today he reveals the details of that talk to the media.

He's on the lads back. Maybe he wants him out the door. And if that's Koeman's method of dealing with players then it's not on.

Some managers are open about it and some managers do it behind closed doors. Its now all dependant on how Ross is built. Prove to the boss he can step up or go in a shell and shrink away to damage his career further more. If he shrinks away then he would never have made it to the very top anyway. My suspicion is he will get his head down and come back stronger....after a while. I don't see a problem with the manager coming out with this.

Maybe he wants him to stop being a sulky little teenager.

Not sure if this is serious or a wind up

Whether it has the desired effect isn't even the issue for me. He hasn't been playing terribly, he's been ok this season. He was singled out by Koeman at Sunderland when it could have been just about any one of four or five to come off.
