This is spot on.
Mirallas is an inside forward who looks to get beyond the striker; the complete opposite of Pienaar. As such, our full backs are limited in how they can get forward because neither the inside forward or striker have any interest in running channels or showing to feet, which again limits attacking options for a playmaker.
Schneiderlin is a very good start for Barkley in terms of building a better quality of footballing team around him, but apparently Koeman sees things differently.
If it were me, I'd have Schneiderlin, Gana, Davies and Barkley as the midfield bedrock of the squad, and build everything around those four.
Tubes, did you see that BBC interview last night with Ron?
Just to me - as it has all along - that doesn't look like a manager who is wanting Ross to go.
I think he's just not arsed either way. He wants better players in to compete with and compliment Ross, but if Barkley has dallied (for whatever reason - that's his prerogative) then obviously we're having to look at alternatives.
It's gonna be sorted sooner rather than later either way.
Personally, I think it'd be a shame if Ross goes without ever seeing what he could do with other creative players around him.
Then again, if he's not convinced on staying, then perhaps it's for the best if he does go.
