Ross Barkley

Frank Lampard (on MOTD) just said he should certainly stay at Everton and aim to consistently play like today.

Always liked Lampard. Outstanding player bizarrely treated as second fiddle to Gerrard for England and by the press despite having better stats throughout his career and accomplishing a lot more.

But mainly he's just always come across as a bright guy who is pretty calm. Hopefully he's back on as a pundit because 90% of the pundits going at the moment are braindead, biased or both.

He was actually belittling the club, he wasn't being nice

My thoughts too.
The face he pulled when he said 5th and his voice raised. As if we had achieved something quite monumental.

Sickens me that the likes of City and Chelsea are considered superior to of a club of our historical stature.

Order will be restored in the coming seasons though. :)

Attacked in a bar, vilified by a reviled columnist and embraced by his boyhood club – Ross Barkley will not forget the past week in a hurry. The Everton midfielder responded to a traumatic period with an influential show against Burnley as Ronald Koeman’s team climbed to fifth with an eighth consecutive home win. Goodison Park, if he did not realise it before, is Barkley’s sanctuary.

There was a standing ovation for the England international when he left the pitch in the final minute and pointedly, amid doubts over his future at the club, Barkley responded in kind. The 23-year-old absorbed the celebrations on the Gwladys Street after striking a decisive second goal against Sean Dyche’s unfortunate side – credited to Ben Mee after a deflection off the Burnley defender – and pointed to all four sides of the ground, other hand on crest, while being booked for standing on the advertising hoardings as he did so. Phil Jagielka, with his third goal in three games, and Romelu Lukaku, with his 24th league goal of the season, sandwiched Barkley’s intervention.

I thought that also.."He's scoring those goals for Everton (change in voice to mean 'plucky little Everton')."

I'm an OAP, so I've seen us win four league title and several FA Cups, as well as a major European trophy. However, we haven't come close to winning the league since Lampard was in primary school and we've won just one major trophy in the last 30 years, so I can understand why Fat Frank doesn't regard us as a big club.

Regardless of that, to become the Premier League's leading goalscorer when you play for a team outside the top 4 is no mean feat.

...lots of Man Utd links this morning with £35m being quoted. Funny if Lukaku and/or Barkley go down that route because there's a very strong possibility that United won't be playing in the Champions League.
Haven't read the article, but the quote of £35m gets me. Yes, he only has 1 year left so that in itself make the quote reasonable. But then why do we hear quotes of £25m for Keane (a Centre Back). The media say things like "Everton will have to pay" this or that if they want a certain player. But then they play down the projected price for our players.
Anyway hopefully its all speculation and Ross signs up!

Neither will do mate, just United generate the most clicks for stories so why not run them
