I like Ross, but he's 23 now and his form is still inconsistent.

He's not " young " in the terms of a top flight player anymore.

If he does go ( not that I want him to ) we'll manage without him.

He's replaceable, whereas Lukaku really isn't in terms of age and goal scoring.

C'mon mate. He's had one poor game since the turn of the year and that was the derby. In the same period he's had 5/6 games that he's totally bossed and the rest he's been above average. Before xmas is a different matter.

Can we not expect players who have contracts due for renewal to stall given the new financial position of the club?

His agent will be telling him to sit tight to see who we sign, Rooney being the obvious example being touted at £150k a week. I personally think this is also why Rom is stalling. They will want to see what the club are paying to gauge how much to settle on. Why sign for £120k a week, then see an aging pro come in on £30k a week more. Like any of us, we would want parity; the danger is they want more.

Heard that being spouted by a Liverpool fan account on Twitter. I remain skeptical of its legitimacy.

Some 27 year old who plays for a budget holiday island and a West Ham no mark are better than Ross Barkley.
