Ross Barkley

....continues to play well. He never seemed the type who would look for a move elsewhere but his contract situation is a bit of a mystery. Prior to Christmas RK said talks hadn't begun which seems strange given that time was running down on his current deal. I'm presuming negotiations are happening but the longer this goes on the more likely it is he'll also be off.

After yesterday's game RK said we were keen to secure the services of Lukaku and Barkley but there's nothing the club can do if players don't want to sign. Interesting.

I think he'll sign eggs. I should imagine there was a bit of a stand off before Christmas as Ross was showing no form whatsoever so I don't think was in any position to be asking for a new contract.

His former now is more in keeping with Koemans expectations and I reckon it will be sorted sooner rather than later. I've always said I think out of all players, Ross would be the one happy to stay and help push the team on once he's sorted his own game out.

I feel like the Barkley situation is the opposite of the Lukaku one. Since Koeman walked in the door he's known Rom is invaluable to the current team and will have been telling the board to secure him to a long term contract at all costs but I reckon Ross needed to prove himself to Koeman a lot more. Ross is a blue and I feel like he's been fighting to show his worth so that he can get a new contract at his club and still be one of the main men under Koeman. I think most are all agreed he's earned it in 2017.

..he's certainly worth a new deal and you could be right but the clock is ticking down. Jamie Redknapp (I know) recently interviewed him and got the impression he wants a move.

The introduction of Tom Davies is undeniably helpful in his growth this season. Ross is doing what he should be doing and Tom is leading the line.

Let's be honest the media are pooing themselves because plucky old Everton have some of the best, most exciting, footballers around right now

Watched the highlights online & Danny Higginbottom was commentator just as Barkley starts to move forward for the first goal he echoes so many of our observations saying Barkley & Davies are constantly interchanging & have such a good understanding it's so difficult to play against.

He probably registersed on here

I'm confident that contract negotiations are happening behind the scene although there'll have been some frank discussions between the parties.

Ross is starting to play extremely well but let's not forget there was times earlier in the season where he was far from performing to a high level.

He'll want a bumper deal and possibly the club have mentioned that he needs to earn it; only now will the real discussions start to take place.

I think he will wait till the summer to see which european competition we are in and who we sign. No point in him signing a new contract on £100k a week if we go out and sign Rooney on £180k a week, he will want to be close to that. Might be a similar thing with Rom as well that he was always going to wait till the summer to see who we bring in.
