Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

It's mental how often he makes a mistake that leads to a genuine great goalscoring opportunity for the opposition. Made one that lead to a goal in a recent home game and then gets away with a ridiculous pass across their midfield which sent someone through near enough one on one at Anfield. There've been more even in the few minutes he's had at Chelsea.

Made up he's not here any more as we'll need better than him to progress, but would feel we have to accommodate him. I'm not saying we have everything in place without Barkley, but he is absolutely and unequivocally not the answer.

In a world where Keita goes for £50m, Fabinho for £40m and Fred for £50m then i guess £30m isn't outrageous, but they wouldn't sell...that's the point. Who wold buy him?

They'd only try to get rid if keeps putting in the average performances.

Absolutely shocking that almost £150 million has been spent on them three.

Ending of the day he left a crap team to move to a better one, bettering himself both professionally and financially. Everyone here would do the same.
Like I've said before, it's not the fact that he moved to Chelsea which is the issue for many fans, as level headed people will understand the draw and his motives.

The issue however was how he went about making the move, with his subterfuge and manipulation - all at the financial cost of his supposed boy-hood club.

He and his agent have financially benefited from how it panned out and Chelsea got him for less. For me, that is what is galling about the whole transfer!

Hope he pops up with a winner today, that will go someway in making up.
As for the manner of him leaving, it was coming the day he signed his last contract with us, 4 year contract expiring in the world cup summer of 2018, was always to enrich Barkley, if the alarm bells weren't ringing in July 2014, well... Its time to move on!

You make it sound like he was a charity case. He was a paid employee of the club and did his job to the best of his ability throughout his entire time here... what more do you want ? So what if he took the selfish route ? So do 99% of the worlds population when it comes to their career. Morally he’s done nothing wrong, it’s just partisan football fans being irrational nobheads about it, which is to be expected because that’s the nature of football.... but that’s still exactly what it is.
Barkley is proof that there is no loyalty in football, and the idea of loyalty and playing for the shirt is dead.

He was born and raised in Liverpool and grew up playing for his boyhood team. Then, out of nowhere, he decides he wants to play for Chelsea, is presumably manipulated by his agent - because let's face it, Barkley is not the brightest candle on the menorah - and goes to Chelsea once he's finished sponging off Everton.

People like Le Tissier or whoever are almost extinct now.

Barmby is equal to him methinks and the way most go on they would put Williams there too. :p
Oh trust me, Barmby is more of a Judas than Barkley. At least Barkley didn't go to THEM.

PhilM said it all though. It's not the fact that he left, it's HOW he left. I was sad when Lukaku and Stones left, and I still have a soft spot for Big Rom, but they didn't make me angry the way Barkley did.

Difficult, of course going to them is not good but still we got market value for Barmby. You can see what Jack Grealish has done for Villa which is night and day compared to Barkley. Grealish gets a nice pay rise, the club is protected and everyone is happy but he will still get his move eventually as he has a release clause at a sensible value and I'm sure the Villa fans will wish him well when he does.

Works both ways, clubs are rarely loyal unless it benefits them and they regularly try and get rid of players before their contract runs out or force them out. That’s why I laugh when clubs try and take the morale high ground over issues like this... they want loyalty from players even if the club underperforms but if the players underperform then they want them out ASAP.

Exactly what he did again today, for all the skill he's he has so many glaring brain farts in giving the ball to the opposition and in doing so today it led directly to the RS equaliser.

It feels harsh to blame him when it was such a stunning goal but he gave it away in a similar spot a few minutes before. You can't be doing that at the very top level when trying to see a game out. Today it cost them.

Factoid from one of the BT Sport commentators was "Barkley has never been on the winning side against Liverpool" when he came on and Chelsea was 1-0 up in the final ten minutes. He gave the ball away in that time, Liverpool equalised and that factoid remains true still.
What's the threshold of a factoid becoming a fact?
