There was no mention of costing the club about 15-20m by not going in August. We had no choice but to sell him in Jan. He was offered a new contract.

Said the same after the Charity Shield, he's looking more relaxed and calmer. Seems to know his role whereas for us he was often aimless. Weirdly enough I think he'd be perfect for Silva where Sigurdsson plays, but that's one for a parallel universe. Reckon an England call-up beckons before the year is out.

And yes I'm still interested in how he performs. Always more interesting to see how players who leave EFC are getting on, even if they are rats.
