Rooting against moyes

I remember in 2005 Liverpool 'should' have been knocked out of their group, and should have been duffed by both Juventus and Chelsea en route to the final. Then of course we all know what happened.

I'm not ruling anything out until United are actually knocked out.

Normally would want Moyes to fall on his hole for the wasted years and arrogance but a spawny win at Bayern would be his "4th" moment at Utd a never ending reference justifying every future choke and debacle among the media and thus good portion of the fans.

Unfortunately it sounds like Van Gaal is primed to step in come what may but imagine the underachieving Moyes weapon continuing his good works year upon year at OT - marvelous.

It won't happen but ya gotta dream.

This worries me a bit TBH. Our one saving grace is that by the time we face them, we could be in the top 4 and we know how Moyes approaches away games against top 4 teams.

This is an interesting point, actually.

I'm deathly curious as to what his tactics are going to be at Goodison. Clearly this is an offensively powerful Everton side. Will he put his tail between his legs and park the bus against his former, "smaller" club?

He can do whatever he likes, we'll beat them either way.

I'm dreading the abuse that the fans will give to him when United play at Goodison. It's a bit embarrassing I think. He really hasn't done that much wrong has he? It's just a bit low to be desperately booing a man who effectively could have saved Everton from being a Championship club. I don't care if he tried to buy a few players at low cost tbh.

Its not the horrible bids many have issue with, thats football, its the comments while making the bids and the total bellend way he went about it.

I personally was his biggest fan for many years.

But im gonna boo the clown like nobody I ever have.

I think no matter what he said people would look for little snips of quotes that they can pin him up for some kind of antichrist for. Like what's happened to Arteta for example, we all knew he was a little snide but when he does something like it for Arsenal then everyone boos him when he touches a ball in a match?

Why are we STILL talking about him. Its been how long now ??

Some of our fans have issues honestly. You know there is a problem when your old manager has more topics of discussion on the boards, than our current superb manager. What is the obsession with this man ? The mind boggles that people are still thinking about him

Mate this ain't church we're talking about.

I think it must be you that has the obsession.

If you didn't, surely you would have enough self discipline about you to neither open the thread nor comment on it.

In the meantime please allow the rest of us to discuss a man who is still very relevant to us and a few short hours from now might just be three matches away from completly banjaxing our season.

For many they didnt need an excuse to hate Moyes, he lost most of the fanbase at Anfield when we lost 3-0, he then lost loads others at Wemberly when we came out and defended a 1-0 lead after slapping them about for the first half. Ironically he "lost" me when he failed to sign any players at United. I always defended him here and blamed the board, but hes got no such excuse at United, I know that the CEO fella took his share of the blame, but for christs sake, if he wasnt doing his job, pick up the phone and do it for him.

I didnt see Arteta kissing or holding the badge myself, I think I was busy swearing and searching for the cat, but many did and you simply dont do that, not after claiming he was "1 of us", clearly nobody believed him when he said it, but it stinks to do something like that and I booed him, despite him being my favourite player in the last 10 years.

Look, we arent bellend fans, we boo ex kopites and we boo people that take the piss, players like AJ will always be welcome at Goodison, people who take the piss will be told.

No but I'd just like to think it's a club that wouldn't mass abuse ex managers who did so much good. It is though.
Problem is mate your interpretation of "so much good" will differ from others but your not alone it's still a recurring theme.

I rationalise it by thinking if Walter's years are the only reference point it's no wonder, but why the same peeps can't tolerate the opinion of those going further back to times of greatness is a bit weird tbh.

Personally I thought whatever good Moyes did he spunked all over it as time went on.

His attitude at Utd was neither a surprise or a deliberate slight imo, he was just being Moyes. I think people who were defenders of him are more annoyed than the likes of me who had his card marked years ago and this is football he'll get both barrels from the majority cos you don't belittle EFC.

What will your reaction to Moyes be?

I always remember you leaning towards the pro-Moyes side, if any

If they beat Bayern I wonder if Moyes will rest 7-8 of his starting players like he did in the derby to save them for the CL semi, after all Utd vs Us for him should be a even less important game in his mind than the Mersey derby is.

and to answer the thread I hope Bayern slaughter them 10-0, I hope we hammer them and smash them all over the show 4 or 5-0 in the loudest atmosphere Goodison has had since the 80's, and that the last 30 minutes we Ole' them all over the park and take the utter piss out of them, and maybe then just maybe he will realise that Everton have never been a 'small' club besides to someone who 'doesn't know his history'.

I have no doubt we will beat them, none at all, Moyes doesn't win big games away vs better teams, it's in his DNA

Yes mate too right, our supporters should be after blood and let it be known just how important a comprehensive victory is, for all reasons, never let anyone walk all over us without getting twice as much back
