ROONEY

I know coming on as sub and making an impact is never easy and it's probably not something Rooney is that used to but I noticed 3 or 4 times last night, when he set off to run at the Slovakian defence with the ball, the ball would just run away from him. He basically couldn't keep up with the ball or just wasn't capable of running with close ball control. While there's no doubt he is still a good player with a fair bit of playing time in the tank, it just feels like the candle is starting to flicker in that his pace and ability might just be starting to desert him
Well observed, I'd have him back under the right deal, but last night showed in small glimpses that while his intent still burns brightly, he can't do all that he was once capable of.

He hasn't had his old pace for years. However let's not say ridiculous stuff like "he couldn't keep up with the ball"

He was comfortably the best player on the pitch (either side) vs both Russia and Wales, so let's be somewhat reasonable eh? He's not going to be the player he used to be, but has shown enough both last season in certain games for Utd and in the Euros so far to suggest that he'll evolve into a very good central midfielder for the remainder of his career.

I actually said "He basically couldn't keep up with the ball OR just wasn't capable of running with close ball control". Either way, the ball got away from him on 3 or 4 occasions when he tried running with the ball. It's something he will need to adapt as his pace fades. The distance that he knocks the ball in front of himself when running with the ball will need to be adjusted to counter this. Not ridiculous at all

Well he went on several runs beating defenders/midfielders against Russia and Wales and barely gave the ball away at all (certainly not in that fashion), so unless this big shift in his pace has happened in the last 8 days, I'd say it's likely to just be a function of a small sample size in a half hour substitute appearance

Which is why I started my post with "I know coming on as sub and making an impact is never easy and it's probably not something Rooney is that used to but..."

Did you even read my post or did you just fancy a barney?

I'd waltz through russias and Wales midfields

It would be like finally getting to pork that bird you fancied as a teenager only to realise shes had 6 kids with heads like watermelons, skin like an old balloon and a tracheotomy pipe for her Vapes.

Just No.

Sounds like my kind of woman! Does she also live in a caravan?

Hubba hubba!!

turned on.webp

he can stay a fan

I find him incredibly obnoxious and frustrating as a player. gives up possession too easily, makes stupid decisions and is suck on the flexibility of sides he plays in. Now that he fancies himself the english pirlo all this has gotten worse.

I won't be here in 50 or a hundred years time to talk about Rooney, but I hope your post is still quoted then, just so people of the future
realise what a Buffoon you are. The only thing wrong with Rooney is that he came to us the same time Bill Kenwright was here.

and i hope he does.

end his career as a decorated player with records broken and a club legend.

But this is the thing....for all the records he had broken over there, I never feel the Mancs have taken him fully to their hearts nor will they regard him as a legend in the way they regard Edwards, Charlton, Law, Best, Cantona, Keane, Giggs as club legends and icons.

If he had a chance to come back here this season and became central to our revoloution and led us even to Wembley cup success then he would become a legend at the club of his dreams.

I would love to see him return....but it would have to be now.
