Ah, you’re fishing. EnjoyAll his stats were made up, he was part of a great team thats all.
Watched a compilation video of Zidane recently, and he was phenomenal. Had the lot - power, pace, skill, snide and great with both feet and his head. Can’t think of anyone close to him at the moment. His prime was so short though. After his cruciate injury whilst he was still a great player he wasn’t what he was. Messi stayed at world class prime peak between 2008-2015 and since then has adapted his game to stay world class. Cristiano Ronaldo the same. Perhaps they have the advantage of modern techniques to prolong their peaks but other players have burned brightly then gone out.
For me it’s still Zidane though. He hasn’t got the stats that people pore over now but put him in a big game with the greatest players of his time and he’d just dominate the whole game. Even in 2006 when he was close to retirement he led the midfields of Spain Brazil and Italy a merry dance which was something when you consider the type of players they had back then.
Despite being an idiot, Maradona is the greatest footballer of all time.
I don’t even think pele is real . He’s a fake character FAKE NEWSAll his stats were made up, he was part of a great team thats all.
Zidane, playing well, always looked like a he was the big kid bullying the smaller kids on the school pitch. No-one could get the ball off him and he had more time than anyone else on the pitch. A real class act.His prime was so short though. After his cruciate injury whilst he was still a great player he wasn’t what he was. The best Youtube video of a player I’ve seen has reminded me why Ronaldo is the greatest. Genuinely, there is nothing from any other player out there that comes close.
For the last five or six years I had Messi at #1, Ronaldo at #2 (the next three or four after that would usually be Zidane, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Henry). Prior to this I thought Ronaldo would remain the greatest I’d ever see. Few years of Messi brilliance, and I’d have him at #1, which remained the case until now. Ronaldo has retaken the mantle for me. While I remembered how good Ronaldo was in his prime I’ve realised I had got caught up in the Messi vs Cristiano media circus, which so many have, the whole ‘which one is the greatest’ narrative. It’s sucked people in. This same recentism applies with the focus on football in the Premier League era, the whole “football didn’t exist before Sky” that so many criticise on here. This neglect of what happened before the Premier League, also applies to Ronaldo whenever this Messi vs Cristiano nonsense comes up.
I never put Cristiano anywhere near him as he doesn’t have his natural talent, those who worked with both (Mourinho, Van Nisetelrooy) say similar. Ronaldo’s footwork, dribbling, close ball control, the amount of breathtaking moments, he’s on another level completely, but I now also put him ahead of Messi as he had more tools in the bag, especially rapid speed.
He’s the greatest I’ve seen, and the fella that uploaded the video has reminded me of that.
