This all depends on how much Southampton are going to back him. They can back him. Which will decide if he stays there. But something tells me that the Saints board won't be arsed and will have about five coaches already lined up like they do their players. They'll move on.

Trouble is. Why would we go for Koeman when De Boer is available? Is he that much better? Does anyone here actually watched the Dutch league?

Does he not have to win something to be considered? He is a good manager but he did not do well in europe with southampton.

As you can read from the many replies in this thread, a lot of blues are feeling a bit meh about Koeman because they wanted a candidate with pedigree of already making Champions-League places in a major league.

In that list you posted, second place was occupied by Pochettino, who has no top 4 pedigree and, wouldn't you know, also came from Southampton and top spot was occupied by Ranieri, so it's not that simple at all. The top 4 isn't a closed shop for managers who have done it before.

Koeman would signal nowhere near the ambition that getting Mourinho would and is half the manager, but if he is given a top 4 budget, he will have top 4 ambitions, as will the club. There's absolutely no discussion to be had there.

I keep thinking that.

It (the takeover) was so left field, and 100% secret, for 18 months(!) that even if we a are a bit rubbish on some stuff, somehow we seem to be able to keep things under wraps.

Is true. Except that esk seems to know the head hunters. Even they, though, could be laying false tracks.

The alternative is that the esk is Moshiri's controller & will only reveal himself as the true saviour at the first match of next season.

Koeman insists he is happy at Southampton, as speculation builds over who will replace Roberto Martinez at Everton.

The Dutchman agreed a three-year deal when he replaced Mauricio Pochettino in 2014 and his stock has risen having led the team to their highest Premier League position last year (seventh) and could improve on that depending on results this weekend.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's final game of the season - they host Crystal Palace - Koeman was asked whether he would be sticking around at St Mary's in the wake of Everton sacking their manager on Thursday.

he said: "I am manager of Southampton, everyone knows I have one more year of my contract. I got asked the same question last week. We will s together and analyse this season and talk about the future. That's what the news is."
