It's so dumb that it almost feels on purpose. If he gets sacked and gets his contract paid up without doing a days work, and that was his actual aim, then he's a genius.

I suspect Koeman is just behaving (as he sees it logically).
Messi is a wonderful player, but is a bit of problem for Barca really. I think he exerts too much influence and his performance in the final wasn't great. However he has just scored 30 goals again this season, so you think it really needs to be handled tactfully. That is really not Koeman's strength.
I also think Koeman has probably over thought his own role as a legend there. I mean what he did will always stand the tests of time, but he's never going to win a fight with Messi. It would be like us comparing Dave Watson to Dixie Dean. Only 1 winner.
