Ronald Koeman discussion

Good points mate, I personally feel we have very good players, brought into play a system but the recruitment of hat system is incomplete.

I agree I think ultimate responsibility rest with the board.

I feel like I'm agreeing with everyone here, accept everyone wants to blame Koeman, ultimately I think he's been given a half cooked dinner and told to make a meal of it by the board. There is context and a root cause.

He is an easy scape goat.

Maybe mate, but he had all last season to sort out his menu and pass it to the board and I do not think being allowed to spend 140 mill is half cooked.

No mate, he spent all Summer pursuing an expensive player that we didn't need, at the expense of a striker and brought in possibly one of the worst full backs ever seen at the club.

I appreciate you're doing your best to be pragmatic mate, but he's the most culpable for this mess.

As a club we haven't ballsed up so spectacularly since Mike Walker.

How do you think transfers happen mate? Do you think Koeman was on the phone negotiating with Swansea. Surely in a multi billion pound industry we can have a team of negotiators working on different deals.

I maintain the boards ability to do deals is culpable.

Who made the decision to sell Lukaku before a forward was signed to replace him? Exactly.

Is the board making him play central midfielders wide, or playing Martina ahead of Kenny, or making him play two holding midfielders every game, he is ballsing up spectacularly mate, if you think a striker not being bought is the main reason your wrong, we could have lukaku still here and we'd still be looking terrible

Yep, little Dutch league but in Spain - Valencia sacked him as did Alkamaar plus never achieved anything with The Saints.

He won the cup in Spain mate and Portugal. He's won trophies at the majority of clubs. It's a Benign arguement everyone knows his history, it's hardly breaking new ground. He has had successes and failures.

If be happy to see Moyes there on Thursday for no other reason then it means Unsworth has been left to carry on the good work he is doing.

Selection tip for Ron:

Striker: DCL or Niasse
Number 10: Rooney or Sig

Dont overcomplicate by playing players out of position. Ta.

Which is part of the ire I have toward the board, the list of targets was well known for a long time, Koeman said himself he wanted to sign Rooney in March, the dogs in the street knew Lukaku wanted out. There was so much times to negotiate and do deals, I'm sure it wasn't Koeman hmming over targets, we could do it here in 30 mins. It was the negotiating and securing aspect. He was given bit of what he wanted, you can have the nicest house in the world try living in it without a roof.

I have no problem, people questioning his decisons, for me he is moving deck chairs around the titanic, because the board hit the ice berg by 1 allowing Lukaku to leave 2) Not signing an established international quality striker. I maintain any manager in world football would struggle to win Games without a striker,

I disagree with much of your post, some parts are valid I think we have a very good team with no cutting edge, the sum of a lot of parts with no cutting edge. If Lukaku was still here we would be a different animal,

He took his eye of the ball over the pursuit of Sigurdsson, gambling that money from the sale of Niasse and Barkley would pay for a striker.

This is down to him and not the board.

Do you honestly think he didn't know how much he had to spend ?.

We needed a striker first and foremost.

Lukaku apparently let it be known that he was off in March !

Proven track record of managing teams into spectacularly poor runs of form, of alienating young players and freezing them out of teams/squads, of falling out with a number of big players.

Our board is letting all the above happen again and blatantly ignoring the fanbase, it's absolutely shocking that they're persisting with him when there's been zero signs of improvement since August, he had the last 2 weeks to work on tactics/improvements, but decided to pop to Spain on his jollies then serve us up the same tosh that we've had for the last 2 months.

A manager has to be judged on how many players he's improved since joining the club. I can't think of one player that has improved under his leadership, actually there are at least 5/6 that have regressed massively. Pep obviously has a bucket full of cash to spend, but you can see massive improvements in players he already had (Sterling/Stones), you just cannot see Koeman having that sort of effect.

I'd say it's pretty safe that he does no budgetary or negotiating, he simply selects targets and coaches the first team.

The negotiating and deal brokering is done sepreatly by the club.

Your post might be true back in the 80s.

Koeman has screwed up in the transfer market big time.

The board are now screwing up our season by leaving him in place until everything is lost. Why delay the inevitable?

They did the same with bobby brown shoes. He should have gone before the semi at Wembley. And we all knew it.

Farhad is hanging himself out to dry here.
