Which makes Martinez alluding to our fatalities of our defence this morning all the more staggering. I was really surprised Koeman changed the set up of the team yesterday, because apart from the first half against Stoke we have looked solid over the last month. However Koeman did say he would pick his team in his pre match press conference based on the opposition. Obviously he saw weaknesses within the Bournemouth team and obviously exploited that, even if it did come at the expense of our defensive organisation. I fully expect to see a return to a back 3 against boro and the return of Gana to the side.

Nothing Dave?? We have a growing core of youth, a chairman who has the potential to deliver on his promises since John Moores was here. But more important we have started to get our pride back. Currently we're the form team of the league outscored by only 3 teams and unless you get a ticket 3 weeks before matchday you won't get in. Jump on (or under) the bus you just might enjoy the ride.

let's see if we can take a scalp or two in some of our tough aways, but looks like we are on course for at least 60 points which would be a great season IMO, massive improvement.

On the flip side to that. Don't compare Martinez to the second coming of Christ when he failed so badly in 66.6% of the seasons he was here.

You are spot on there, that was the best club side (assuming that you are talking about the 69/70 championship team) that I ever saw and I don't mean the best Everton side, I mean the best. Club side. I still, all these years later, feel privileged to have watched them. The 62/63 side were good but not in the same league as the 69/70 side.

From all I have managed to glean in the years since 'the Cat' died, his players did not necessarily like him, but they all respected him. (If you get a chance take a look at the days of our life sky video in which Joe Royle, Colin Harvey and Howard Kendall are interviewed). For what it is worth, I think that if Koeman decides to stay here for the long haul, he will be as successful as 'the Cat'.

Must admit I was concerned when he brought Holgate on that we would sit back even further trying to hold on to what we had, like we have in the past, and be under more pressure, but it worked brilliantly to push us further up the field and put the pressure back on them further away from our goal and leading to the opportunities to extend our lead.

Just perhaps he does know what he's doing sometimes.
