Ronald Koeman discussion

If players are so weak minded as to be negatively impacted by the manager's statement, guess what, they are the exact problem he is speaking of. We need strong willed players willing to rise up to adversity and want to be here. If you're not one of them good riddance.

I think top class players would like koeman's approach, certainly VVD, schnerderlein, mane etc. he improved all 3 players undoubtedly. Not only did they have the ability but also the mindset to improve and be the best they can. Koeman has looked at this squad and seen that many of these players don't possess one or both of these traits.

He certainly improved Schneiderlin, Wanyama, and Mane by benching them when they said they wanted to leave the club after 1 season of him in charge, then they were sold.

Unless he is shifting and replacing all the said players this month (highly unlikely) then I consider this a bad move by Koeman. It's alright us saying it as fans but we don't have a daily working relationship that needs maintaining. It stinks of the mess he created at Valencia.

It seems between him and Martinez we've gone from one extreme to the other.
I disagree, mate. When Koeman was managing Valencia he tried to get rid of all the dead wood, the difference was that the board didn't do their part. Valencia was a mess back then and is a mess right now, nine years after Koeman was sacked.

That's not strictly true mate.

The season before he took over Valencia they finished 4th

He left them nearly getting relegated in 15th place.

The 2 seasons after his departure they finished 6th and 3rd.

Let's not re-write history.

Come on now, don't be naive.

I'm not expecting a relegation battle at all, both Walsh and Koeman joined us due to the money we offered them.

Money makes the world go round unfortunately.
It may surprise you to know but there are still people in the world who place other things in life well above monetary gain.

I like his honesty part. Getting dead wood like Niasse, Cleverley, Gibson and Kone etc is important.

I however, have some reservations whether he is a good motivator. Cos what I feel is now that he knows he has money he isn't bothered to work hard with some players who have undoubted potential but need a direction. Prime examples being Barkley and Del. He knows he has money so now it looks like he's not bothered to work hard with some players at all. If he gets rid of Barkley by the summer I do not think it'll be the smartest thing to do.
